#ConvictionIsABlessing
“``So this is what we love about David. Yes, he sinned, but he never tuned out the voice of the Lord. Can I tell you this? That the conviction of the Holy Spirit in your life is not a punishment from God, it is a blessing. It is a warning light to say, son, daughter, you're beginning to drift. It's a warn to say, if you continue down this road, it will only lead to destruction and pain and suffering. Guys, the conviction of the Holy Spirit is the greatest blessing that you can have in your life.”

#TrustNotResources
“Right? Maybe you've been there. What happens is as you get older and you get a better job and you get some savings and you get an entire pantry full of bread, you stop praying that prayer as serious. Like, yeah, Lord, give us this day our daily bread. And you're thinking, but I already have all the bread that I need for today. What happens is, rather than trusting and crying out for God and saying, Lord, if you don't come through, I don't know how I'm going to make it. We end up saying, you know what? I have a money, I have an account full of money, and God, I can kind of do this without you. And we can do that in a 100 different ways where we think, you know what? I've got this. And this is the temptation of pride, to trust our resources rather than trust God.”

#JesusAtTheCenter
“Right? That you are trying to do everything that you want to do and then squeeze God in rather than the other way around. That Jesus should be the absolute center of everything that we do. Then if we have time to go and to have some fun, that's great. Oh, Lord, you gotta be the center of everything that we do. Amen? And so what I would call this type of Christianity that is very prevalent, I would call it costless Christianity. There is this temptation to say, yeah, I'm a Christian but really when it suits me. Costless Christianity is powerless Christianity. Amen?”

#CostlySacrificeMatters
“Like costless Christianity, here's why it's powerless, because costless Christianity does not affect you. And if it doesn't affect you, it will not affect anybody else. And so this, when David says, I will not offer a sacrifice that costs me nothing. This is what he's getting at. He's saying, look, I'm not gonna say this is a sacrifice and yet it's only in my excess. What did Jesus say about this? Remember the story where the Pharisees are giving in their excess. They're giving these huge donations And then this little widow comes in and she gives this tiny little, like a few pennies. And the Pharisees are laughing at her. And they're saying, this woman, look at it. She just gave such a pitiful offering. And what does Jesus say? He says, no, I tell you this woman gave more than all of them because they gave out of her their excess and she gave out the very last penny that she had. This is what laying your life down looks like.”

#OwnYourSin
“Guys, for every wrong thing that David did, I love that in this moment when the punishment is in front of him, he doesn't try to get out of it. He doesn't try to sugarcoat it or blame somebody else. He says, God, I am the one who did this. As this is what the Lord asked of us, that we stand before him and we own our sin. Right? That we don't try to sugarcoat it or make excuses or blame somebody else. When we sin, we say, Lord, it was me. I did it. I knew better and I did it. Lord, forgive me of my sins.”

#GodIsGoodInCrushing
“Bring me the consequence that puts me in the hand of God because I know in spite of all the crushing I've been through, God is good. I pray that that would be something that you could take to heart this morning. If you're in a season of crushing and a season of discipline, just know that God is still good, and don't let your view of him be determined by your present circumstances. God's the saying yesterday, today, and forever. Amen?”

#PayThePriceForSacrifice
“So David, point four. David buys the land, builds an altar, says, no, you're gonna, you're not gonna give this to me for free. I am not gonna give to the Lord what cost me nothing. And this is what I put as the lesson we learn from this is that true sacrifice always costs something. That's the definition of sacrifice. I'm giving this up to give it unto you. You think the early church, man, these guys, they were selling their fields, selling their properties to give to the Lord, to give to anybody in need. Costless Christianity is powerless Christianity. We should often be okay with being inconvenienced for the gospel and for the Lord. Amen?”

#GodSeenThroughCircumstances
“How many of you guys know this? That as humans, our view of God is very often dependent on what is the quality of the life that he's offering us at this moment. Right? When God's giving us a lot of stuff and things are good, we think God is good. He's so great. God's given me so much. But if you're in a season of crushing, you've gone through brokenness, it is hard to look at God and say, God is good. Because we're so myopic. We're so just, you know, all I can see is what's right in front of my face. And if things are bad, I don't feel like God is good. David went through all of this and he said, you know what? Bring me the consequence that puts me in the hand of God because I know in spite of all the crushing I've been through, God is good.”
