you're sitting in the site where the tabernacle stood for around 400 years longer here than anywhere else somewhere up in this area the Ark of the Covenant with the two tables of stone when Joshua conquered the land or came in to conquer the land this was the first place that they set up the tabernacle it was to reign here for almost 400 years it was here that they had sort of apportioned out the land the territories and then it was here where they cast lots to find out which tribes would would get which portions of the land [00:00:19]

Hannah was barren and the other wife would sort of chide Anna over her barrenness there was a real friction between them because it was obvious that the husband loved Anna more than the other wife and so it created this kind of friction and bitterness between them and as they were coming here to the temple Anna's husband said why is it that you look so sad and she said give me a child and he said I'm not God I don't know why you can't have children [00:02:02]

while she was here worshiping near the tabernacle that her spirit was so grieved that she really couldn't utter her prayers it was just she was lying there and just in depth of grief just praying god I I want a child I want a child Lord if you will just give to me a son I will give him back to you all of the days of his life [00:02:58]

Eli the priest walking by seeing her lying there seeing her mouth moving and and yet not really speaking aloud figured she was drunk and he said woman leave the boose alone it's it's gonna kill you you know and she said I'm not drunk but my heart is grieved because I desire a child so desperately and so he assured her that God had heard her prayer and her son Samuel was born [00:03:31]

Samuel grew up around the tabernacle here doing chores doing errands as he was a little boy it was nearby I thought he heard his name being called one night and he ran into Eli and said you called me and he said no I didn't call you go back to bed and he heard his name being called again he went running in t line he said you called an anointing call go back to bed [00:04:08]

the men of Israel were going in battle against the Philistines they were getting the worst of the battle somebody got the crazy idea why don't we take the Ark of the Covenant into the battle it was looking at the Ark of the Covenant more or less as a good-luck charm and so as they brought the ark that coming in into the camp of Israel the people all began to shout I mean just excited Ark of the Covenant and all but it doesn't work as a good-luck charm [00:05:18]

the Philistines when they heard the shout they of the camp of Israel they said what's happening and they decided to attack and they defeated the Israelites and they captured the Ark of the Covenant and so Eli was sitting by the tabernacle here waiting to get news of the battle and when the runner finally came and reported to him that Israel was defeated and that the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines he fell over backwards and broke his neck [00:05:56]

the place that was once the meeting place for the people to come and meet with God the spiritual center became barren deserted so that at the time of Jeremiah chapter 7 Jeremiah was in Jerusalem and the temple and the worship in the temple had become perfunctory there was a sort of surface revival because the king was seeking the Lord it became the popular thing to do but the people weren't really seeking God with all their hearts [00:06:52]

God said to Jeremiah go down and stand and cry to the people as they're going into the temple saying the Temple of the Lord the Temple of the Lord the Temple of the Lord are these and and tell them that you know they're they're worshiping not from their hearts as God wants them to worship it's not a complete commitment and then the Lord said and interestingly enough as we're traveling in the Holy Land this is probably the only place in the Holy Land that God commanded you to visit [00:07:20]

go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh where I set my name at the first the first place where the tabernacle stood in the Holy Land and see what I did to it what do you see desolation destruction see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel and and so you see what has happened to this place where the people one time met God a place of great spiritual enlightenment [00:08:17]

the Lord is with you while you will be with him if you seek him he will be found of you but if you forsake him he will forsake you here is a example of the truth of that declaration God will be with you if you'll be with him if you seek God you'll find him but if you forsake God he'll forsake you and you can see what happens to a place when God has forsaken it the godforsaken place [00:09:29]

this was once the center the heart of the spiritual life of the nation but has become just a ruins because they had forsaken the Lord and so with the light your life if you seek God he'll be with you you'll find him but if you forsake God your life can become just desolate barren and ruin and so what a great lesson as I say you're in the place where God said to go go to Shiloh look what I did to it [00:10:17]
