#PrayerIsRelationship
“``That's the big idea I want you to get in this message today. Prayer is not about you informing God. God, this is all going on. Take care of it for me. It's all about knowing God. It's all about a relationship. And Jesus continues then, father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. In other words, father, I want your name to be honored. I want my life to reflect you. I want your kingdom to come. I don't want my kingdom to be built. I want your kingdom to be built. God, I want your will to be done. You do you see what Jesus is doing? He's teaching us that prayer isn't primarily about getting God to give us everything that we want. We start off with a perspective. He's father, hallowed be your name. I want your things to be done. Prayers about allowing God to reshape what we want. Why is that? Because sometimes my biggest problem isn't that God isn't doing what I want. Sometimes my biggest problem is I want the wrong things.”

“He'll meet your needs. And then verse 13, if you then, though you are evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? In other words, do you hear what Jesus is saying? Jesus is saying, your father is good. So good. And your father will take care of you. He he isn't reluctant to hear you. He's not annoyed when you come again and again and again as we are sometimes as people come to us. He isn't waiting to get your life back together. He's not saying you gotta get your life all together and get it all perfect before I'm gonna hear you. He's your father and he wants you to come to him and talk to him and deal with things of life.”

#FatherFirst
“This is where Jesus begins. Not with a formula, not with technique, not with some flowery language. Oh, great God in heaven above who sits above the clouds and above the stars. You are minor than minor. No. It was just, father, daddy, papa, can I talk to you for a moment? Father, Jesus wants his disciples to understand that prayer begins with the relationship, and the relationship is with the father. Now, I understand as soon as you bring up father, there's some in this room or some that are online today. You're like, if you only knew my father, I can't look at god as a father.”

#PrayerAlignsUs
“Seriously, I mean, my wants don't align with God's wants. And sometimes that's how we pray. God, give me this, give me that, help me, Lord. I pray. Please make sure you do it my way today. And Jesus is like, you gotta say, Father, hallowed be your name. We I want your will to be known because prayer brings my heart back into alignment with God's heart. And so we start praying your kingdom, not my kingdom, and your will, and not my will, and your name, and not my name. And so Jesus says, gotta get that straight first. And so you begin with alignment with the father and then you move into, let's talk about life.”
