The Lamb, Jesus Christ, stands as the only one worthy to redeem, seal, and secure His people, marking them as His own and protecting them spiritually through every trial. The redeemed are not saved by their own works or efforts, but by the precious blood of the Lamb, who alone is able to purchase them back to God. This security is not a promise of a pain-free life, but a guarantee that no one can snatch the believer from the hand of Christ, and that spiritual death has no hold over those who belong to Him. The assurance of salvation and the mark of God’s ownership bring hope and confidence, even in the midst of tribulation or loss, because the Lamb’s sacrifice is sufficient and final. [35:25]
Revelation 14:1-5 (CSB)
Then I looked, and there was the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. I heard a sound from heaven like the sound of cascading waters and like the rumbling of loud thunder. The sound I heard was like harpists playing on their harps. They sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders, but no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women, since they remained virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from humanity as the firstfruits for God and the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to rest in the security and assurance that Jesus alone has redeemed and sealed you, rather than striving to earn God’s approval through your own efforts?
Salvation is not something that can be earned, purchased, or achieved by human effort, but is a free gift from God, given through faith in Jesus Christ alone. No amount of religious activity, church attendance, or good deeds can secure redemption; it is only by grace that anyone is saved. This truth humbles the heart and leads to gratitude, as believers recognize that their standing before God is entirely due to His mercy and not their merit. The call is to confess, repent, and receive the gift of forgiveness, trusting in the finished work of Christ rather than personal accomplishments. [31:48]
Ephesians 2:8-9 (CSB)
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—not from works, so that no one can boast.
Reflection: Is there any way you have been trying to earn God’s favor or forgiveness? How can you intentionally rest in the truth of God’s free gift of grace today?
Those who have been redeemed by the Lamb are called to respond with heartfelt worship and a life of service, using their voices, gifts, and talents to honor God. Worship is not limited to singing, but encompasses every act done for the glory of God—serving, giving, and living in obedience. The redeemed are invited to join the heavenly song, praising the Lamb who saves, and to live lives that reflect His worthiness. True worship flows from gratitude for what Christ has done and is expressed in both gathered praise and daily acts of devotion. [51:19]
Revelation 5:9 (CSB)
And they sang a new song:
You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slaughtered,
and you purchased people for God
by your blood
from every tribe and language and people and nation.
Reflection: What is one specific way you can worship or serve God today—whether through song, an act of kindness, or using your gifts for His glory?
God’s people are called to live holy, pure, and blameless lives, set apart for Him and dedicated to His mission, even in the face of temptation and a world that opposes His ways. The example of the 144,000 shows a life wholly devoted to Christ, marked by truthfulness, purity, and unwavering focus on God’s purposes. Holiness is not about perfection, but about being set apart and growing in Christlikeness, seeking to honor God in every thought, word, and action. The challenge is to examine whether God is truly your everything, and to pursue sanctification with intentionality and dependence on His Spirit. [54:17]
1 Peter 1:15-16 (ESV)
But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life where God is calling you to greater holiness or truthfulness? What step can you take today to set yourself apart for Him?
Temptation is a reality for every believer, but God promises to be faithful and to provide a way out so that His people can endure and remain blameless. No temptation is unique or insurmountable, and God’s Word assures that He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. The call is to replace temptation with truth, worship, and reliance on God’s faithfulness, trusting that He equips His people to stand firm. In moments of weakness, believers are invited to confess, repent, and receive God’s cleansing, knowing that sanctification is a continual process empowered by His grace. [56:24]
1 Corinthians 10:13 (CSB)
No temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation he will also provide a way out so that you may be able to bear it.
Reflection: What temptation are you currently facing, and how can you intentionally look for and take the “way out” God is providing for you today?
Revelation 14 gives us a powerful vision of the Lamb—Jesus Christ—standing on Mount Zion with 144,000 redeemed and marked by His name and the name of the Father. This scene is a reminder of the security and assurance that comes from being sealed by God, even in the midst of tribulation and chaos. The 144,000, likely Jewish believers saved during the tribulation, are set apart for a special mission: to proclaim the gospel during the darkest days the world will ever know. Their faithfulness, purity, and dedication serve as a model for all believers, calling us to live lives that are holy, blameless, and wholly devoted to Christ.
The passage also highlights the reality of suffering and martyrdom for those who refuse the mark of the beast and remain faithful to Jesus during the tribulation. These martyrs, seen in earlier chapters of Revelation, are honored in heaven, their worship echoing as a new song that only the redeemed can sing. This is not just a future hope but a present call: as those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, we are invited to worship, serve, and honor Him with our lives now. Worship is not limited to singing; it encompasses every act of service, every use of our gifts, and every moment lived for God’s glory.
Sanctification—being set apart and made more like Jesus—is not an abstract theological concept but a daily reality for every believer. If we are not growing in holiness, the fault does not lie with God or the church, but with our own neglect of spiritual disciplines and devotion. The 144,000 are described as blameless, with no lie found in their mouths, wholly focused on the Lord. This is the challenge for us: to be a people marked by truth, purity, and unwavering commitment to Christ, even as we face temptation and increasing spiritual darkness in our world.
God’s faithfulness assures us that, though temptation is inevitable, He always provides a way out. We are called to be different, to be sanctified, to be a light in our community. The urgency of the gospel compels us to share Christ with others, so that many more might be redeemed and join in the eternal song of worship to the Lamb.
Revelation 14:1-5 (ESV) — > Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.
The perfect Lamb of God. The one who purchased the church back to Himself, by dying on the cross, for the sins of the church. And the only way we can be redeemed back to Him, is by believing in Him, and understanding that His blood has sanctified us, has cleansed us of our unrighteousness. So John in Revelation chapter 14, verse 1, He looked and He saw there was the Lamb, the Lamb of God. The only one who can save, man's soul. [00:34:52] (39 seconds) #SavedByGrace
But we are spiritually secure. As you're reminded in the latter part of John chapter 10, as soon as you became a follower of Jesus, you were placed in the palm of the hand of the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one can remove you from that. So you are secure spiritually. You are protected from spiritual death. I didn't say physical death. I said spiritual death. Because if you die on this planet before Jesus returns, you will immediately, your soul will immediately enter into the presence of the Lord. Because of what He has done for you. Not because of anything you've done. It's because of Him saving you, and saving me. [00:40:47] (47 seconds) #GiftOfSalvation
So for any of our loved ones, who have died prior to right now, and they were followers of Jesus, we can rest assured, that their soul immediately entered into the presence of the Lord. Now, is it difficult that they're not with us right now? Sure. We would all like to spend time with our grandparents, or maybe our spouse, or if you lost a child, you would like to spend time with your child. But if they are a follower of Jesus, you have the ultimate hope and assurance that they're in the presence of the Lord. And they're not suffering here on planet Earth right now. [00:41:34] (42 seconds) #JoyfulWorship
The Lamb in Revelation 5, the Lamb in Revelation 14, the one who was slaughtered, the one who died on the cross, has purchased us back to Himself. We don't deserve that. We can never earn that. We can never attend Sunday school, and worship enough to earn that. It is a free gift, that only comes through the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. [00:42:24] (32 seconds) #ServeWithPurpose
What a joy it is for us, as the redeemed, to worship the Lord. I hope you were worshiping this morning. I hope you were joining in singing. I hope you weren't just sitting there with like a bump on the log. Say, well, we got the choir. Let them sing. They're the professionals. No! They're to lead us in singing. Every single one of us should be singing. Preacher, I got a horrible voice. I don't care. If you have been bought by the precious blood of the Lamb, sing. Get over yourself. If you got a horrible voice, you're not singing for the person next to you anyway. You're singing to Jesus. You're honoring Him. [00:50:22] (47 seconds) #HolyAndDedicated
What a joy it is for us, as the redeemed, to worship the Lamb. The one who saves us, sanctifies us, secures us, and seals us for the day that will be presented to the Lord as a gift. We get to sing to Him, and worship Him, and serve Him. [00:51:08] (17 seconds) #FirstFruitsHarvest
``And it also tells us that He's gonna, they're gonna be the first fruits, which is referencing a greater harvest during this time. That these are the first fruits who will be saved, but then there are gonna be many more who are gonna be saved. How do we know this? Back to Revelation 7, 9 and 10, this wonderful vision that God gives us and gave to John. After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands, and they cried out in a loud voice, salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb. Did you note verse 9? Every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number. There's gonna be a great harvest during this time. Praise be to God. And they don't all look like us. Praise be to God. Lots of different colors. Lots of different languages. Because we're all image bearers of the Holy God. [00:52:38] (64 seconds) #FaithfulInTemptation
And if we are not, as I told the Foundations class a little bit earlier, and if we are not, let's be real clear, that's not God's fault. Might be the church's fault. Probably not. So that eliminates two major parts of the puzzle. So whose fault is it? Your fault and my fault. If we are not more like Jesus now than we were this time last year, and we've been a Christian that entire time, that's not the church's fault. That's not God's fault, certainly. That is our fault. Because we haven't taken the time to get in this book. We haven't taken the time to ask the Lord for direction. We haven't taken the time to be in this place to worship Him, to sing songs of praise to Him, to serve Him, to honor Him. We've just been living our lives for ourselves. [00:54:53] (53 seconds)
Church, we're called to be blameless. We're called to be different. Now, when you think that you've got this thing figured out, that I don't have to worry about temptation any longer, BAM! You can hit it right in the face. Matter of fact, you pull your phone out when you get ready to leave in a little bit, some image may pop up on your phone that, how in the world did that get there? Or you say, Preacher, I don't have one of them there smartphone things. I don't have to worry about that. Okay, you got a remote control. You got one of those big old things in your living room called a television. I'm guessing my, I'm 100% positive, well, 99.9% positive that almost all of us have one of those things in our living room, at least one, probably like 10 or 12. You don't think that an image could come across that? Yes, it can. And it will. And it might even come across at 12.30 right after you had lunch. Are you going to be ready for that? God is faithful. He provides us the way out to bear it. [00:59:28] (79 seconds)
