#PortraitOfWisdom
“So, the example of the woman of valor in Proverbs 31 is a prime example of an idealized portrait of wisdom embodied in the life of a woman. Again, that's the poetic culmination of the entire book. So, don't miss the point here. This isn't a simple checklist designed only for a submissive, obedient, productive wife, but rather a grander illustration of what a seasoned, well lived life could look like for the mature person living out wisdom. Yeah. It's an illustration about a woman, yes. But it's also an illustration for all of us of what wisdom looks like in a life that's well lived. So”

“So what does wisdom look like when you actually live it out? Read Proverbs 31. But the foundational point and principle of the entire book, fear the Lord in every area of life. She fears the Lord and everything else flows from that. Her strength is surrendered to God. Her wisdom is grounded in God's truth. Her business is practiced with integrity. Her wealth becomes a means of generosity. Her leadership serves others. Her family becomes a place where others flourish.”

“So why is it important that it's an acrostic? Well, because we miss the depth and the nuance of the way that it was originally written, and it's then from that easy to misconstrue the meaning. So really when you read this section, it should be viewed more as an A to Z, if you will, an A to Z portrait of wisdom. Not as a checklist that just a wife should be doing, not as a statement that every godly woman must be doing all 22 of these things, but rather this is what wisdom looks like when it takes flesh in a woman's life.”
