#KnownAndLoved
“Psalm one three nine tells us that god is familiar with all of our ways, and being fully understood is one of the most freeing and regulating experiences a human being can have. See, when we realize we are fully loved and known, we no longer have to perform or hide or explain ourselves. We can rest. There's peace and there's freedom. No more striving and doing what the world demands. We go from know yourself to being known. We go from an inward gaze to an upward gaze. We go the language goes from being active to passive. It goes from doing to being.”

#NoNeutralGround
“Now I think this probably shouldn't be a surprise to us, not only because we spent the last two years going through John Markcomas practicing the way, but also because we know what the bible says about this. You know, John Markoma reminds us that spiritual formation isn't happening it is happening to you constantly whether you choose to or not. In fact, when we read, if we're not being intentionally formed by Jesus himself, then it's highly likely we're being formed by someone or something else. You see, there's no neutral gear. We're either being discipled by the world or being discipled by Christ. And the first option runs by default if we don't actively push against it.”

#LookUpNotIn
“Started as know yourself. Our gaze was inward looking to ourselves. The Delphic Oracle said, know yourself. The world says find out who you are, but the bible says something even better. It says lift your gaze upwards. There's a god who knows you, knows you intimately. Before you did anything, before you failed, before you pretended, before anyone had an opinion of you, you may think you're unworthy, unlovable, but god knows you, and god loves you. God sent his son for you. And he says you're loved. You're valuable. You're worthy.”

#IdentityDeclared
“Someone's told me that it's the job of a parent to tell their children who they are before the world does, and this is what God is doing with us. God's god's whispering to us right now. You're loved. You're loved. You're loved. You're valued. You're valued. You're valued. You're worthy. You're worthy. You're worthy. You are of infinite worth. You are of infinite worth. We need to know this in the depths of ourselves before the world tells us anything else, and there is real freedom in this. Not needing to prove ourselves or be anyone anyone we're not, but knowing Christ has already declared who we are, the way God sees us and not the way we see ourselves.”
