“You see, you put him to death by nailing him to a cross but God raised him from the dead. You meant harm, but God could use it for good. You meant to silence Jesus forever, to shut him up, to shut him down, to close him off, but God amplified his voice and made the good news even greater to be shared. You saw death on Good Friday. Satan and religious leaders saw victory. Disciples and followers felt grief and loss, but God saw atonement. God saw sacrifice. God saw love. God ushered in new birth and new life.”

“What does it mean for us today? What does this resurrection story mean for us? I think there's a place in each of our lives that's dead. A place where we feel despair, loss, pain, shame that there's no hope. A place that we keep buried out of guilt and we hope nobody ever uncovers or or we keep suppressed because if it ever ever shown the light of day, it would overwhelm us and control us. A place that feels like death, hopelessness, sadness. It feels like Friday.”
