Alpha offers a life-giving, joyful way to invite people into the big questions of life, meaning, God, and hope. Alpha takes the pressure off because nobody has to sell, install, or convince anybody. The city holds people made in God’s image, people Jesus went to the cross to redeem, and people who may be longing for hope after a distasteful experience with faith or church. The invitation to Alpha represents Jesus, his truth, and his way with simple boldness.

The call to kingdom investment begins with Jesus’ words in Matthew 6: “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be.” Jesus contrasts the dot of earthly life with the line of eternity and calls people to live for the line. The law of sowing and reaping runs through relationships, work, generosity, and righteousness, not as a slot machine or a vending machine, but as a real principle woven into God’s world. God refuses to be mocked, and a person reaps what that person sows.

Second Corinthians 9 grounds this principle in God’s abundant provision. God is able to bless abundantly so that, in all things and at all times, his children have what they need and abound in every good work. God provides so that his people can thrive in the works he made them for. Provision is not the end game. The enemy keeps heads down, focused on the next meal, bill, need, and problem, reduced to survival in the dust. Jesus lifts heads up toward fruit that lasts, toward an abundant life deeper than more stuff.

God supplies bread for food, seed for sowing, and an increased store of seed for those who invest faithfully. The promise of enrichment does not authorize a capitalist stuff grab. The purpose of being “enriched in every way” is being generous on every occasion. God is both a loving Father who cares for his children and a savvy businessman restoring his good creation through kingdom investors. Faithful stewards do not lose their heads when resources increase, forget the kingdom, or get lost in the sauce.

Ephesians 2 places salvation in its proper place. Salvation by grace through faith is not the end but the beginning of restored partnership with God. God created and redeemed his masterpiece for good works prepared in advance. Christ calls his people beyond merely getting by into co-laboring, building, stewarding, restoring, and doing what is impossible alone. The question finally comes down to trust: whether God’s provision can be trusted, and whether Christ may move a person from merely provided for to kingdom investor.
