Jesus’ words come as keys and building materials, not as religious information to sit in the yard of somebody’s life. Matthew 7 puts the issue plain: the wise man hears Christ’s sayings and does them. The rock is not something a house sits beside. The rock is what the house is built on. God’s promises carry “amen,” meaning it is so, and His word teaches hearts how to say yes without throwing away wisdom or responsibility.
Jesus rebukes those who take away the key of knowledge. Church doctrine, opinions, propaganda, and cultural labels cannot replace truth. Scripture over feelings means God’s word gets the final say even when old desires, anger, lust, or past habits still feel powerful. Salvation does not erase every memory or make sin stop feeling pleasurable. The word renews the mind, flips the old order, and brings God’s will over somebody’s own will.
Truth makes free because God’s word is truth. Sin blinds, and rationalization keeps trying to call darkness normal. Christ gives the key to open what needs opening and shut what needs shutting. God has already supplied enough material to build a life that can stand when rain comes, storms hit, finances shake, and everything uncertain presses against the house.
