Jude closes his letter with a doxology after calling God’s people to contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints. The faith is the gospel truth handed down through the prophets and apostles, and it does not need to be added to or improved. Certain people had crept into the church unnoticed, bringing sexual sin, greed, rebellion, and denial of Christ’s lordship. Jude’s warnings show that God’s judgment upon false teachers is certain, but Jude’s closing words show that God’s keeping of His true people is just as certain.
God is able to keep His people from stumbling. Scripture shows that God is able to strengthen His people, do far more abundantly than they ask or think, help them in temptation, and save them to the uttermost. Christ kept His disciples while He walked among them, and He continues to keep those who belong to Him. God’s hand is not a weak hand from which His children can slip or somehow jump. The ark gives a good picture: Noah and his family may have stumbled inside the ark, but they never fell out of the ark because the Lord shut them in.
Jude’s promise does not make a past prayer or walking an aisle the assurance of salvation. Scripture points to present faith, present love for Christ, and present walking with Him. God alone knows the heart of someone who has wandered away, but the church must love such people, pray for them, and hold out the good news of Jesus Christ to them.
Christ is also able to present His people blameless before the presence of God’s glory. Sinners cannot stand before a holy God on their own. Moses, Gideon, Manoah, Isaiah, and Uzzah all show the fearsome reality of coming before God’s holiness. Yet Christ will make His people stand before the Father, not because they are perfect in themselves, but because they are in Him. God chose His people before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless; Christ died to make them holy and blameless; and Christ will finally present them holy and blameless.
Jude ends with celebration. Great joy belongs to those who stand before God with nothing to say except, “Hallelujah. All I have is Christ.” God, the only God and Savior through Jesus Christ the Lord, deserves glory, majesty, dominion, and authority before all time, now, and forever.

Key Takeaways
- 1. God’s hand never loses His children. God’s preserving grace is not based on the strength of a believer’s grip. Christ holds His people, seals them by the Holy Spirit, and guards them for the salvation ready to be revealed. The ark pictures this well: stumbling may happen within the ark, but falling out of Christ cannot happen to those whom God has shut in. [37:10]
- 2. Present faith gives real assurance. A prayer prayed long ago or an aisle walked long ago cannot replace a life presently walking with Christ. Scripture directs assurance toward ongoing faith, love, and obedience rather than a remembered moment. God alone knows the heart, but wandering people need the gospel and the love of Christ, not false comfort. [42:50]
- 3. Christ makes sinners stand before God. God’s holiness is not something sinners can casually enter. Moses, Isaiah, and others knew that seeing God’s glory exposed their sinfulness and need. Christ alone makes His people able to stand before the Father, blameless because His righteousness covers them. [45:19]
- 4. God’s purpose runs from eternity onward. God chose His people before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him. Christ’s cross accomplishes that purpose in history, and Christ’s final presentation completes it in glory. Salvation is not a loose collection of spiritual moments but God’s purpose from eternity past to eternity future. [53:52]
- 5. All glory belongs to God alone. God is the only God, and Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. Glory, majesty, dominion, and authority belong to Him because He is able to save, keep, and present His people. The believer’s joy rests not in self-confidence but in the power of Christ.
