Justice is a foundational aspect of God's character, ensuring that every action has a consequence and that the standards He sets are good, life-giving, and purposeful. We all understand justice because we have either demanded it from others or have been on the receiving end when we've done wrong. God's justice means that our sins and failures cannot be ignored; there is a penalty that must be paid. Yet, this justice is not arbitrary or cruel—it is rooted in God's holiness and desire for what is right. Recognizing the reality of justice helps us see our need for something more, as none of us can claim perfection or innocence before God. [01:06:01]

Day 2: Mercy—Not Receiving the Punishment We Deserve

Mercy does not deny that a crime or sin has been committed; instead, it removes the penalty from us and places it elsewhere—on Christ. Grace means that God gives us everything we need to walk through this broken world, not because we have done anything to deserve it, but because of His love and generosity. The enemy may try to remind us of old hurts and failures, but God calls us to live in the freedom and newness that comes from His grace. God has standards that bring us joy, that bring us life, that bring us purpose, that bring us meaning. Those standards are good, but we all run from those standards, and we break them all the time.”

“Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death." That means our sins, our failures, our mistakes, our breaking of God's standards is always going to lead to death. It is a slow burn while we're on this side of eternity. It will res destroy our relationships. It will destroy our health. It will destroy our work environments. It will destroy our finances. Sin will destroy us on this earth, but it will destroy us for eternity as well because that is a a spiritual death that separates us from God in this life and the one to come.”

“But mercy takes us the next step. I must show mercy to those who have hurt me and wounded me, because God showed me mercy. And this is a huge step. Forgiveness is so incredibly difficult, especially the deeper the wound, the more difficult the process. But that's a God of healing that leads us to being merciful.”

“And grace, this is what makes the difference in the world. Again, grace is not seen in our world very often. But if you begin showing grace to the people around you, the blessings God's given you, you f pass them off to other people and let them experience it too. So think for a second, what have you received from God? What have you experienced with God? Forgiveness, joy, peace, comfort, encouragement, love, whatever you've experienced, that might be the place where God says, "Let's practice grace as you share that with other people."”

“The enemy says, "But I don't want you to live it. I don't want you to experience it. I don't want you to enjoy what God has given you. I want you to be broken and bitter and angry and costic for all of those around you so they never see Jesus. And that's why justice, mercy, and grace is so important for you and me that we begin to accept the character of God."”
