Day 1: When the Child is God’s
Manoah’s wife sat alone in the field when the angel returned. She ran to tell her husband, who followed her to meet the divine messenger. Manoah asked plainly: “How shall we order the child?” His prayer had been heard, his urgency rewarded. God’s answer came not through formulas, but through a call to consecration. [00:41]
Manoah understood this child belonged to God first. His question revealed surrender, not control—a recognition that parenting begins by releasing ownership. In a generation that forgot to cry out to God, he chose to seek divine instruction over human strategies.
You hold what God has entrusted, not what you’ve earned. What plans have you made without consulting the Child’s true Owner? Stop scripting outcomes. Open your hands and ask: “Does my parenting reflect stewardship or ownership?”
“The woman hurried to tell her husband, ‘He’s here—the man who appeared to me!’ Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he came to the man, he asked, ‘Are you the one who spoke to my wife?’ ‘I am,’ he said. Manoah asked, ‘When your words come true, what must the boy’s rule of life be? What should he do?’”
(Judges 13:10-12, ESV)
Prayer: Ask God to shift your heart from possessor to guardian of those He’s placed in your care.
Challenge: Write down three areas where you’ve tried to control a child’s future. Pray over each, releasing them to God.
