Day 2: Shorn Locks, Stolen Joy
Samson’s hair lay in seven clumps on Delilah’s floor. He awoke to Philistine shouts, muscles slack. For years, he’d flirted with compromise—testing boundaries, assuming strength was his own. But the razor didn’t steal his power; disobedience did. The man who once tore lions apart now ground grain like a beast, joyless and blind. [50:37]
Compromise always costs more than we expect. Like Samson, we think we control the limits. But sin isn’t a game—it severs our lifeline to God’s presence. Joy withers when we trade sacred vows for temporary thrills.
What boundary have you been testing, assuming grace will cover the risk?
“He awoke from his sleep and thought, ‘I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.’ But he did not know that the LORD had left him.”
(Judges 16:20, NIV)
Prayer: Ask God to reveal any compromise you’ve excused as “harmless.”
