In these challenging days, it is easy to become distracted by the shifting economy or the way others mistreat you. You must refuse to let your current face-to-face struggles cause you to lose focus on what God has planned for your life. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world, and His power is sufficient for every storm. When you keep your gaze on Him, the pressures of this life begin to lose their grip on your heart. Trust that He is leading you toward a purpose that far outweighs your present pain. [02:35:43]
"Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)
Reflection: When you consider the pace and pressure of your daily life, what spiritual practice could you adopt to create more space to recognize God's presence?
You may feel as though you are "boxed up" or "locked up" by your circumstances, but your current location is not a reflection of God’s future destination for you. Even when you are facing bills, health challenges, or misunderstandings, you can still have a praise on your lips and a pep in your step. God is able to take a difficult moment and use it to witness to others about His kingdom. Do not judge your worth or your future by the walls currently surrounding you. There is a heaven to gain, and God is still moving you forward. [02:38:31]
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." (Romans 8:18)
Reflection: Where have you recently sensed God inviting you to trust Him more deeply, and what practical step of faith could you take this week in response?
None of us have arrived at the apex of our salvation experience yet, for we are all still in the process of being made like Christ. You can be grateful today that even in your mess and your imperfections, God has not finished His work in you. This journey of sanctification means that while you may fall sometimes, you must keep pressing on while He continues to refine your heart. You are being saved from the power of sin day by day as you allow His grace to take up residence within you. Be patient with yourself and others, knowing that we are all travelers on the road to glory. [02:45:50]
"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6)
Reflection: Is there an area of obedience you’ve been postponing? What is one small, concrete action you can take this week to move toward faithful obedience?
To move into the formidable future God has for you, you must practice a spiritual amnesia regarding your past failures and hurts. Stop tripping over the history that is behind you and start stepping into the blessings that are waiting in the years to come. When you catch a glimpse of God’s plan for your future, it has the power to funeralize the pain of your past. Your progress is measured by your willingness to move forward without constantly looking back at what you have lost. Let go of the old garments so that God can clothe you in His praise. [02:55:28]
"Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14)
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you find yourself holding back from surrendering to Jesus? What would surrendering this area to Him actually look like in terms of daily habits?
Unforgiveness and toxic energy can act as an impediment that blocks the flow of God’s blessings in your life. Forgiveness is often not about the other person, but about freeing your own soul from the weight of bitterness and malice. You are encouraged to lay down the heavy burdens of church hurt, family abuse, and negative vibes at the altar of grace. As you release these things, you create space for God to step in and do exceedingly and abundantly above all you can imagine. Choose to prioritize your relationship with Jesus over the discord that the enemy seeks to create. [03:18:32]
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)
Reflection: Think of a relationship in your life that feels strained or distant. How might God be inviting you to participate in reconciliation, even in a small way?
Paul’s life and witness anchor a bold call to perseverance, holiness, and singular devotion to Christ. Drawing from the Apostle’s Damascus road conversion and letters from a Roman prison, the preacher highlights how joy and mission can persist even amid chains and misunderstanding. Paul’s example becomes the model: physical weakness, cultural marginalization, and repeated suffering do not cancel God’s purpose when a believer’s life is oriented toward Jesus. The central claim is stark and pastoral — present circumstances do not determine divine destiny; God is still at work shaping character and calling.
Sanctification is presented not as a finished résumé but a continuing pilgrimage: justification begins the race, sanctification sustains the runner, and glorification secures the prize. Believers are urged to measure progress by forward motion rather than past attainments or performances. To that end, forgetting past failures is not denial but discipline; practicing spiritual amnesia allows the future God promises to “funeralize” former pain. Unforgiveness and relational toxicity are diagnosed as spiritual impediments that can block blessing and health, and releasing those burdens is framed as an act of faith that permits God to act.
Practical, plainspoken direction ties theology to everyday choices: set priorities so Jesus is first, resist allowing jobs, relationships, or social approval to become ultimate, and choose an appetite for faith rather than for failure. The sermon presses believers to press on — to keep running regardless of speed or setbacks — trusting that trials sometimes push toward purpose. Stories and athletic metaphors reinforce persistence: even teams and runners who don’t win still finish and claim the prize by refusing to quit.
The invitation is both stern and tender: come to the altar, lay down hurts, and let God continue the sanctifying work. A corporate prayer ushers in a promise that God can do “exceedingly and abundantly” beyond present imaginaries, turning ashes into beauty and graves into praise garments. The conclusion is a benediction of perseverance: keep eyes fixed on Jesus, let go of toxic pasts, allow God’s refining work, and press toward the upward calling until the day every eye beholds the Blessed City.
He just wants an available vessel. To be used by God. Paul knew he was not doing it for the likes of men but for the love of God. He kept on preaching despite oppression and depression. And today I want to tell somebody church. In the last sermon I'm preaching to you for as your pastor, don't look to the left or to the right. In these last days, you gotta keep your eyes on Jesus.

But although he is in a Roman jail, he's still telling them to rejoice. Come on and say amen. Amen. Although being imprisoned in a Roman jail, he is telling them despite his present situation, although he may not see them again, Paul says, keep on pressing on. Do some rejoicing along the way but know that god is on your side. Paul is therefore expressing to the Philippian people that god will never leave nor forsake you. Come on and say amen. Amen.

``In other words, never you get too high community in yourself that you can't be too low to seek the face of god. Will somebody give him praise up in here? Never you get too high that you can't be too low to know that you need God. I'm gonna say this with an apology. Here it is. You wanna catch it? The problem with the church is not culture. The problem with the church is not culture. It's religion without redemption. Yeah. Y'all y'all got that? Yeah. The problem with the church is not culture. It's religion without love.

In other words, many of us are struggling around thinking we have arrived in a walk with god. Thinking we are at the apex and of our salvation experience. We judge and attack people with spiritual narcissism and righteous nepotism but don't put down anybody in this church. We just lift people up. We got your time to be tearing people down.

Paul is saying, I'm still watch this. Watch this. I'm still in the process. Look on the screen of what we call sanctification. Paul is saying, I'm in the process. Somebody say, sanctification. I'm still arriving. Yes. I'm not there yet. Community, you are not there yet. I'm not there yet. But by the grace of God, if we keep on going, we will get there while we allow God to work on us.

And today, is there anybody who's grateful that even in your mess, God is still working on you? On, lift up your hands to the sky and say, lord, keep on working. Come on, wave your hand and say, lord, keep on working. I may fall sometimes but keep on working. I may say some awful things sometimes but keep on working. I may have broke in your heart god but keep on working because where I am now is not my present destination.

Don't let your history define your destiny. Amen. Somebody say, let it go. Let go. In other words, stop tripping on the past that's behind you. I'm done. And start stepping into the future that God has for you. Come on, touch your neighbor and say, neighbor, stop tripping. Stop tripping. Say, neighbor. Don't push down your neighbor. Say, neighbor, stop your tripping. Keep your eyes open.

Some of the toxicity of yesterday is hurting your tomorrow. Did you get that? The toxicity from your family, the abuse you got. Forgiveness is not about them, it's for you. Yeah. And sometimes if you have this impediment of unforgiveness, it blocks the blessing. That god has for you. They are living their life and you're still worried about them.
