“A journey calls for us to press forward no matter what's happening around us in order to reach the goal. In essence, the biblical journey is not just about reaching a destination, about the transformation that occurs along the way. It is a call to trust in God's promises, to walk in his ways, and to become formed to the image of Christ.”
“But it's all together different when you can speak about God through your personal experience. When you can speak like David because you have had an experience when God has shown up in your life. Even when things are messy, even when your life is in turmoil, even when you're depressed, even when you feel you can't go on, even when you say, "Okay, I'm done with it all." It's those experiences that make our relationship with God so much deeper.”
“It's the experience that we have that gives us what the meaning of having the Holy Spirit means. It's those experience that we have that helps us mean what it means to grow closer to the Lord. It's those experiences that we have that humble us before the presence of the Lord.”
“Reading the word is so vital to our growth. Reading the word and relating it to your life is development that helps you go through the journey.”
“But in order to be streams in the desert, we need to be streams in our faith. That's right. We need to be streams in our journey as we walk with the Lord. You can't be a stream in the desert if your journey with God is at a standstill. You need to journey with the Lord.”
“Sometimes journeying with the Lord makes you go home and sit in your room and cry. Sometimes journeying with the Lord makes you look at your past and say, "I didn't do that quite right. I shouldn't have said that. I shouldn't have gone there." A journey with the Lord causes you to reflect on yourself.”
“Praise puts God at the forefront of our mind. Praise helps us to look at who God is. The uh new living test translations puts it this way. The Lord helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loaves. The eyes of all who look to you in hope you give them their food as they need it. When we take our minds off of the situation and put our mind on God, he gives us the ability to conquer.”
“But when you leave no room for complaining, you say, "God, you said you going to supply my every need. I'm going to wait on you. My heart is fixed on your word. I'm living according to your will. You are not going to let me starve. You going to supply what I need. until I can get some new shoes. I'm going to put a cardboard at the bottom of my my shoe so that my foot won't get wet cuz I know in due season you going to get me some new shoes."”
“When you stop complaining, you get a new way of doing things. You get a new way of looking at stuff. You get a new way of happiness. You get a new way of walking with the Lord. You're not walking with a frown, but you're walking with a smile. And people are saying, "What you smiling about? You in a bad shape." You say, "But I got the Lord."”
“Sometimes when we're in the midst of going through something, God doesn't say, "Oh, come on. Let me wash you off. Let me fix you up. Let me do good for you. Sometimes God said, "I bet you won't do that again. I bet you learn from that one." Now go on up there and clean yourself up and feast in my word to find out what I want you to do and stop going out doing what you think you ought to do. Because what you think you ought to do isn't causing you any growth. It's causing you harm."”
“Praying to God in truth means that you believe in God, that you fear him, and that you will live your life consistent with your prayers. I mean, if you a young person and you're in school and you having trouble with science and you need to read and study for the test and you praying and you saying, "Lord, help me to get a passing grade on this test and you don't never open up the book."”
“If you struggling with God's word and you don't understand what something means. And we have all these things going on at the church. We got so many things going on at church. I have difficulty trying to find when I'm gonna do a class on Saturday. Uh because the schedule is full. Then there's no reason that you cannot grow in the knowledge of what you don't understand.”
“Victory is what we want. Victory is not winning. Victory is fulfilling the will of God. Victory may be that you don't get what you want. How many times is it that you've prayed for something and you didn't get it and you your response was God didn't hear my he just didn't answer that prayer. Maybe I prayed wrong. But perhaps God is saying is you don't need it.”
“Change is what God requires of us every day of our life. Change is what David went through. Change is what God expects us to go through. If you don't change, you're dead. And if you're dead in Christ, you're not moving. You got to be able to move in the Lord in order to have some life. If you're standing still and doing everything the same as you did six months ago, something's wrong.”
“Faith is a substance of things not seen, the evidence of things hoped for. Faith is something that you don't see all of it. And yet the Lord said, "You cannot please me. You cannot know me unless you come to me in faith." Where does faith happen? One step at a time. Faith only comes on the journey.”
