You understand? Yeah. Very good, let's open in prayer, Father God of our Lord Jesus Christ, we give you thanks that we are able to be here today, many people away on holiday, so we bless them, Lord, and we pray that they will have a safe journey back home, and a safe time wherever they are. As we ask that you bless this time together, as we worship you, as we praise you, and we thank you, Lord, for all that you do for us. [00:03:09] (36 seconds)

So Potiphar goes home, now he's got a pretty flash house, don't you think? And he sets Joseph to work scrubbing the floors. Now the thing is, what do we know about Joseph? Where has he grown up? In Israel, in the desert? Yes. in a tent. Well, I don't know about you, but most people in tents don't have marble floors, do they? [00:21:10] (37 seconds)

But Joseph hadn't seen a marble floor in his life, and he set to work to scrub it. Well, he knew that if you had a job to do, you did it well. You didn't just do your job how it suited you. You worked well. And so the other servants are watching him and thinking, what is this guy up to? Why is he working so hard? [00:22:03] (35 seconds)

So Potiphar noticed how good Joseph worked. So Potiphar took Joseph and gave him a promotion and a uniform. And the other servants weren't too happy about this, because they thought, well, hold on a minute, I've been working here a lot longer. How come Joseph gets the promotion? But of course, Joseph got the promotion because he worked well, very well. [00:24:00] (46 seconds)

God wants us to become people who can be trusted. And yes, the teacher is going to ask a child they can trust so they will do the job properly. If they want them to go to the office with a note, they want to know that that person's going to go there and come back. Not go wandering all over the school to see what Nigel's up to. [00:26:19] (31 seconds)

Well, Joseph wasn't a lazy person, so he picked up the grain sacks and he helped carry one home with the other servants. And that just showed that he was a nice, caring person. Now, as time went on, Potiphar came to realise that actually Joseph is extra special. Whenever Joseph does anything, it always seems to go very well. [00:27:30] (36 seconds)

But Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him. He showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warder. So the warder put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. [00:34:03] (32 seconds)

Joseph knew that God, was looking at everything, so he gets one promotion, and then because he could be trusted, he gets another promotion. Joseph could have decided, oh, well, Potiphar's wife, Potiphar's, is away, but Potiphar's wife is offering herself to me. But no. He's stuck by his integrity, and he knew that that was the wrong thing to do, so he ran away. [00:38:31] (41 seconds)

But what did he do in jail? Did he sit in the corner and sulk and cause trouble? No, he didn't, did he? He again, worked well for the prison man, the prison warder, because he knew. He knew what? God sees everything, and even though Joseph, who was the favored child, then he got sold as a slave, he worked as a slave. [00:39:22] (37 seconds)

us what happened to joseph when he was in jail but joseph has to remember that even though life can be difficult and have really bad times if we work well if we be a person who can be trusted and god is still with us let us pray father we thank you that we pray to you we give our lives to you we know that you are always with us what every season we are in whether we are having success or whether we are having trials we know lord that you are with us and sometimes lord it's the valleys that help us appreciate the mountain tops so lord i just pray for people here that they will remember when they're going through a tough time that god is still with them and that maybe it is saying a lesson for them to learn something special that god wants them to discover in that valley and then once again they will get to the mountain top we thank you lord in the name of our lord jesus christ amen [00:40:22] (93 seconds)
