[00:29:00]Observation questions- In John 5:30, what two reasons does Jesus give for saying that His judgment is just? [07:35]
- What details in John 15:4-5 show that a branch must be truly connected to the vine rather than merely close to it? [10:28]
- In Philippians 2:5-11, what actions show Jesus’ humility and obedience before His exaltation?
- When John the Baptist was asked who he was, what titles did he refuse, and how did he describe his own role? [27:37]
Interpretation questions- Jesus is equal with the Father, yet He seeks the Father’s will rather than His own. What does this show about true humility and obedience, especially when a person has authority or ability? [13:18]
- Jesus says, “Apart from me you can do nothing.” What kinds of things may look spiritually healthy on the outside while still being disconnected from Christ? [11:18]
- Jesus brings the Father and John the Baptist as witnesses so that people may be saved. Why does Jesus provide such clear testimony to people who are resisting Him? [14:38]
- John the Baptist calls Jesus the Son of God and refuses to make himself the center. How does John’s example help a believer distinguish between pointing people to Christ and drawing attention to self? [29:35]
Application questions- Where is there a temptation to seek personal preference, recognition, or control instead of seeking the Father’s will? What would humble obedience look like in that specific situation this week? [09:24]
- Jesus says that abiding in Him produces fruit over time. What regular practices help a person dwell in Christ—such as prayer, Scripture, repentance, fellowship, or obedience—and which one needs renewed attention right now? [12:14]
- Habitual sin pulls a person away from close fellowship with Christ. Is there a repeated pattern, attitude, relationship, or private choice that needs to be honestly brought into the light and turned from? [12:20]
- Jesus took the form of a servant and looked to the interests of others. Who is one person in the home, church, workplace, or neighborhood who could be served in a quiet and practical way this week? [13:29]
- The Jewish leaders had Bible knowledge but did not receive Jesus Himself. What signs might reveal that faith has become mostly facts, habits, or rule-keeping rather than a living relationship with Christ? [17:24]
- John the Baptist found joy in Jesus increasing while he decreased. In what setting is it hardest to let Christ receive the attention rather than seeking to be noticed, appreciated, or proved right? [29:53]
- The Father’s testimony declares Jesus to be the beloved Son. How does confidence in Jesus’ true identity strengthen a believer when facing false claims about Christ or pressure to treat Him as merely a good teacher? [19:46]
