#HopeBeyondDeath
“what is the answer then that Jesus gives to the problem of death? One, that the world is not as it should be. That it should not just be accepted. Two, that he weeps with us. He weeps with those who weep. Three, that he suffers for us, that he takes the death we deserve so we could have a world freed from death. But then four, he will do something about it. He will create a world where there's no more tears, no more pain, no more hunger, where all things are made new.”

#JesusWeeps
“John's gospel begins with a revelation that Jesus is the logos. He is the creative source of all things, that endless galaxies and universes came into existence at his word. And that same immense cosmic lord comes to the tomb of his friends on a lonely hillside in Palestine. And he's overcome. He weeps. All his grandeur and immensity is not at the expense of the particular.”

#RedeemedThroughChrist
“He didn't mean to choose death. But in choosing selfishness, in choosing his own way, he unintentionally sold himself over to the power of death. And therefore, break that power, it wouldn't be enough just to draw a sword and defeat death with an omnipotent word. That same word that Jesus used to draw Lazarus out from the grave. Jesus had to face the power of death himself. The only way death could be destroyed, but those who chose death could be redeemed, is if Jesus took the death we all chose with us and for us.”
