#RepentanceOverRecognition
“``The signs, the signs, the symptoms reveal the root. Jesus exposes not just behavior but what we love and we trust. And so do you crave recognition or repentance? Do you use religion to control or to surrender? Do we clean the outside or invite Jesus to cleanse the inside? The Pharisees' problem was not lack of knowledge. It was misplaced worship. And the danger the danger for all of us is that we are more like the Pharisees than we want to admit. Our religion and we can do this as Christians. We do it. We tell ourselves, I obey, therefore, I am accepted. And Jesus says, I accept you, and therefore, you can finally be changed.”

#TwoPathsChooseJesus
“There are two ways to respond to Jesus. Only two. Jesus leaves no middle ground here. There's the pharisees way, performative religion, self justification, resisting Jesus for failure to see him, and then there's the disciples way, humility, dependence, receiving Jesus as lord. The woes are not just condemnations. They are diagnosis of a heart that refuses god's grace. The call is not try harder to be humble. It is come under the authority of the true king. Every person in here this morning, every one of us are on one of these two paths at any given moment. Any one of us. The difference, the question that will determine our status and all of that is who can stand at Christ's judgment? Only those in him.”
