36s
“You're gonna have to make a decision between the worldly kingdom and the new kingdom. The worldly kingdom is what everybody says is right, and we form our own confirmation bias, and we have that. And yet, Jesus shows up with these words on the sermon on the mount and says, no, no, this is the new framework. No, no, this was the intent all along. I wanted your hearts. And he brings this new kingdom that feels very upside down, very awkward for the world today. And you're gonna have to decide which kingdom are you serving, which one rules your heart and mind.”
44s
“And he says, but I tell you, do not resist an evil person. Now, what is he saying there? We need to understand resist because resist is the keyword for me in this. What does that mean? Does it mean lay down? Because is that what Jesus is saying, like, lay down and just take it and and die? The word resist means to set oneself against. To resist isn't to just stop. It's to withstand, resist, oppose to set against. I'm coming now after you. And so another way really to define this is do not retaliate with violence against the evildoer. This is what resist means.”
36s
“Hatred blocks access to God. Read first John four twenty. When you hate, you cannot see God. If some of you feel like you're distanced from God, which is not true by the way, when you surrender your life to Jesus, he never leaves. And yet, how do we feel distanced from God is when we hold on to hate and bitterness. Then we don't see others like God. We dehumanize them. They're less than. First Samuel talks about that. The nation of Israel says, we want a king and they pick a good looking one.”
45s
“So much I drove to his house and knocked on the front door and you can imagine him opening up. It's like, we go on again. And I looked at him and go, I'm sorry. Now listen, I was a young, immature, broken kid, didn't have any idea, but I go, I'm sorry. Can we do this again? Start over. Anyway, we become friends. We became friends. I remember he invited me in. We talked out stuff. I it was just it was amazing. And listen, I'm not trying to give you a storybook story. That's the story I'm owning and I'm going, wow. There was a different way. I didn't do it right, but I felt like I got a redo.”
