55s
“through locked doors, into fearful rooms, into questioning hearts, still bearing wounds, still speaking peace, still offering himself to us. Inconceivable, we might say, and we're right because God's grace is inconceivable. His mercy is inconceivable. His faithfulness, his power, his love, it's all beyond us. But this is the good news, What we cannot conceive, God reveals over and over and over again. What we cannot reach, God will come near. What we cannot understand, God makes known through presence, through relationship, through love that refuses to ever walk away from us.”
52s
“This is what John is getting at when he says, these are written that you may believe. Not that you may fully understand, not that you may neatly explain, but that you may believe. Because belief in this sense is not about having all the answers, It's about trusting in a reality that is so much bigger than your ability to comprehend it. It's inconceivable. So that goes back to Thomas and probably us because if we are honest, like Thomas, we all have moments where faith feels like it's too much, where the promises of God seem too big, too good, too far beyond what we can wrap our minds around.”
