#GreenGrassInWilderness
“And you almost miss it, but Mark's mention of the green grass is striking given that on repeat, repeat again and again, they are in a desolate place. It's another one of those vivid eyewitness details that that tend to color Mark's gospel. It's a vivid picture that even in a place of wilderness and deficiency, God's provision through Jesus produces conditions of rest and conditions of abundance.”

#GoodShepherdBanquet
“``The provision of a banquet on green grass in a hot, dry place where people rest beside water is not just a a generous coincidence. This is Jesus making an identity claim using the shared kind of cultural connection to one of the greatest Psalms of their people, David's Psalm, Psalm 23. Here in the Galilean wilderness, Jesus embodies the role of God as the good shepherd who cares for, provides for, leads, and guides his people, whose abundance of care and provision leads to an overflow of service. My cup overflows. Will my baskets of bread overflow as well? He can't be contained.”

#SpiritualNeedFirst
“Here, Jesus, does not lead with miracles that meet people's kind of needs. His compassion leads with announcement, announcement about the kingdom of God, the need to repent, all the things. It's a reminder that the greatest need that people have is is spirit is spiritual need. They need to be given a clear picture of God that they can respond to in repentance, and they need a a framework of faith in Jesus that they can give their lives to. And this is what Jesus is doing.”

#ChaosToRest
“And in a way, and here's the point. Don't miss this. This organization and a lot of commentators say as he as he lays them out like this, it represents Israel camped in the desert or around the the tent. in a way, this is the first thing that Jesus does when dealing with us. He transforms our lives from chaos, the chaos of dehumanizing sin that robs us of our individual value and sets us in places where we can now be dealt with personally and have our needs met intentionally and abundantly. That's is that not what Jesus does to us as he comes to reorder our lives and take us out of the chaos of sin?”
