#HolySpiritPower
“``You may say, pastor, that's nice, but I've never been a part of anything that feels supernatural, that that god feels like he's heard my prayer in some big way. That just doesn't apply to me. And I would simply say, are you really doing one and two? Because if we don't do what Jesus did, we won't do what Jesus did. Jesus has put his holy spirit in you. Yes. That's for your personal benefit to a degree, but it is also authority and its power, and he wants to work through you. He wants to speak truth through you. He wants to to have you pray in a situation so that he can bring his glory there and get the credit. There is power power that we're leaving on the table that he has given for us.”

#BalancedFaith
“this picture of Jesus' day, I would say, is a picture of the balanced Christian life. It's like a stool, and it's got three legs on it. A three legged stool, if they're all there, guess what? That is stable. But if you only got two of the three legs, one of the three legs, it's not gonna be stable. Are you having protected, prolonged, prioritized time alone with God? I'm not gonna tell you how many minutes that has to be, what it has to look like. You know in your heart whether or not it's happening, but that has to happen. Number two is you have to be in community. Jesus was in community. Jesus modeled for us the importance of community, both for our sake and for the sake of others. And it's a risk, but it doesn't mean we don't do it. And thirdly, to be complete, we don't just get to say, well, this is about me being a self improvement program. It's I am called to serve others.”

#WelcomeCorrection
“In words, he he corrected Peter. Here's a question I have for you. In the last year, other than your spouse or your parent, has anyone corrected corrected you on a spiritual point? If no one's corrected you, I can assure you it's not because you haven't had a mistake in a year. because you have not been an authentic community. It's because you have not been vulnerable, or it's because you have not, welcomed, given people permission to speak into your life.”

#NeedCommunity
“Jesus models for us our need for community. If you think you don't need Christian community, you're just mistaken. Mistaken. If you think you can do this on your own, I can tell you, from fifty years of experience, you're mistaken. You need other people to be in community with you. And here's the thing about that community. Notice who he calls Simon, who is named Peter. What do we know about Peter? Well, he becomes a great leader, etcetera. But we also know that when Jesus was in his most vulnerable and he's been arrested, that Peter denies he even knows him. And Jesus is within earshot. He knows what's going on. How do you think Jesus felt? Notice who else he has in the list of his community. Judas who betrays him, betrays him with a kiss.”

#ExpectImperfection
“So let me just manage your expectations and tell you, when we go into community, it's risky. There are some of you who've who've just started out in the community, and and it's just kinda felt like, great. I got a new friend circle, and it just all seems to be hunky dory. There's some of you who have been doing community a long time, and you've had a Peter or you've had a Judas in your world, and you're feeling burned. There's some of you who had a Peter or a Judas in your family, and you've never opened up in a church community because you just know people can't fully be trusted. And so I'm trying to preach a message here to encourage community, but I gotta manage your expectations and tell you there's always Peters, there's always a Judas.”

#ProtectPrayerTime
“Jesus goes out to a mountainside to pray. In Mark's gospel, it says that Jesus had this Mark chapter one had this amazing ministry time, and, he got up early the next morning. It's not the same story, but I'm just saying it's the same idea. He gets up early the next morning, and he goes off alone to a solitary place to pray. And the disciples find him and they say, everybody's looking for you. Jesus goes to the mountain, and one point or one purpose is to protect his time with the father. Because good things will always try to steal that time.”

#PrayerIsPriority
“So here's some three words I want you to hold on to. Is it's prayer is a priority. It's prolonged. It's protected. So priority, priority, it's the first thing in his day. Right? It's night. He could have been doing other things, but instead he says the very priority I have is to be alone with the father. We see that it is prolonged. He spends the night in prayer. I'm not saying for you to have a good prayer time, you have to spend the night. But we all know what it's like to rush through prayer, to just kinda check it off, or to just have something hit us and we we just pray for that moment. And guess what? It's okay. We're it's okay to pray that way, but it can't be our whole diet of prayer.”

#TimeWithFather
“Jesus sets an example for us. Time alone with the father empowers everything else. Anything else I have to say about Jesus' day is going to be worthless or irrelevant if we don't do the first part. Matter of fact, the the the second one is gonna be on community. Let me just in case you're taking notes, this is gonna be prayer. I just came up with three p's. Right? The priority of it, that it's the first thing he does, does, that he doesn't rush through it. It's prolonged, and then it's protected.”
