#LightOfJesus
“Light represents Jesus. Jesus is stronger than the darkness of our sins. It's a one way street. And so this right truth is recognized by god, and he uses the image of light when he compares his son to it in a spiritual sense and speaks of the dangers of our sin, the darkness of our sin, but of his power over it when saying in John chapter one, in him Jesus was life, freedom from sin, eternal life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”

#LightOverDarkness
“Light dispelled the darkness and it won the acclaim of God as being good. Later, God would use the light of the pillar of fire to guide the Israelites in their forty years of wandering during the exodus at night, the pillar of light. Everyone in all ages knows that darkness always gives way to light. Light doesn't give way to darkness. You can't walk into a room with a device that casts pure darkness and push the light out, but walk into a dark room with a lantern or flashlight and watch the light push the darkness out. It's a one way street.”

#IAmTheLight
“The light, Jesus, shines in the darkness, sin, Satan, this sinful world, and the darkness has not overcome Jesus. These words should bring us comfort. They should ease our fear. Light and darkness to the people of Jesus' days was powerful imagery when related to spiritual matters and their salvation. And so Jesus says in our gospel text, I am, there's the great I am. Right? I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

#SinBlindsTruth
“But with the red light, you also couldn't see as much, and you still risk tripping over a tent pole or something or stepping in a hole in the ground and twisting your ankle at night. Well, the danger of sin is much like this as it hides the truth of God and his word and his commandments from us. And especially, it blinds us to the truth and consequences and danger of some of our sins.”

#LightAndCreation
“And this can jeopardize our faith. It can jeopardize our salvation as well as causing us to, at times, based on our sins, incur consequences in the here and now even though those sins are forgiven. So now let's contrast darkness with light. Light was the first thing created after the heavens and the earth were in Genesis. And did you notice the creation was not called good until light was present?”

#LightShowsTheWay
“And he speaks of our sins as being as white as snow. He brings the light of the total atonement for our sins and forgiveness granted to us by his grace through his gift of faith in our hearts. And so light also shows the way. Psalm one nineteen one zero five reads, your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. The twenty third Psalm reads, yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow darkness. Right? Shadow? Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me.”

#DarknessHidesDanger
“Clearly, the darkness had hid the danger of the lurking viper from this man. And in this way, also in a spiritual sense, darkness brings fear in many parts of the world, but also in a physical sense. In Jesus' days and today, where light oftentimes is not so abundant. Consequently, because of such dangers of darkness, the bible uses darkness to represent the spiritual danger of sin.”

#NightHazards
“Under the cover of darkness, robbers and wild animals can lurk along the trails at night, and they can reach out and touch you, that is attack you. One night in Bumban, they brought to us a man who had been bit by a viper probably coming in too late from his fields on the trails, and we had to bundle him up in our Land Cruiser and take him to a nearby American medical clinic where the American nurse had the antivenom to treat his bite.”
