#TakeItToJesus
“``You know, maybe you are one of those people who you you felt you were vulnerable in your past. You were you did open your heart up to somebody, and they broke your trust. Or you've been through just so much pain and grief that you're feeling that bruised reed sense of that smoldering wick. Like, what do you do with that? My the point my whole point is to take it to Jesus. Jesus knows how to handle your situation. Jesus knows what you're going through. Jesus is is kind. Jesus is gentle. In him, you will find rest for whatever that is that you're that inner striving, that pain, that burden, that shame, that social anxiety.”

#TrustYourHeartToJesus
“``put yourself in his care. If you've never done that, if you've never put your faith in Jesus, today you were invited to do that, to trust your heart to him. Take the shield down enough to admit your need for him and to say that you need him to be a part of your life. And then guess what? Then we continue in that frame of mind, in that way of approaching God as we we say every day, I need you. I need you today. If I'm gonna respond to my kids the way I should respond in a way that is gonna glorify you or respond to this situation that is causing me stress or pain, it's gonna be because you are helping me. I come to you today, a smoldering, faintly burning wick that needs to be fanned into flame.”

#JesusFansTheWick
“``One that's like, it's kinda leaning a little bit. It looks like it's in rough shape. It's not useful, likely to be used by someone that would use it for those things. What would you like, you can't do anything with it. You maybe just break it off. But the scripture is telling us that some people feel that way. Some people are like bruised reeds where they feel like they're not of use to anything. They're feeling broken and bent and bruised. And how does Jesus approach these bruised reed people? Says he will not break them. He is gentle with them. The smoldering wick, he will not snuff out. You know, think of an oil lamp during Jesus' time and the little wick that would come out of it, and the wick is almost to the bottom. It's almost burned up. And what you would do, maybe just lick your fingers and put that thing out. No. No. The servant will fan it into flame. He will not just snuff it out. So”

#GentleChurchCare
“``Help me, Jesus. I come to you today with this need or hurt as a bruised reed. I'm feeling that. I feel like not worth much, but I know that you know what to do with people who feel that way, God. Help us. And may we be a church that lives this out. May we always be gentle in the way that we approach people who who are in need of love and care. Remember the groups of people that Jesus interacted with in this passage? One walked away angry, plotting to kill him because they didn't need him. They were full of themselves. They didn't acknowledge their need. But if you see your need, bring that need to Jesus. Recognize that he is good, that he loves you, and that's what I wanted to tell you this morning. So let's pray.”
