#GodsEternalJealousy
“``And his jealousy doesn't just flare up. He knew he would express jealousy from all eternity. In fact, in Ezekiel nine, the Lord says, I'll restore Jacob. I'll restore the house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name. God decrees that in the near future, he will express jealousy. Isaiah through Isaiah, he said, my glory, will not give to another. Now human jealousy, even when it's righteous, is over something of relative value. But of God, that's not true. God is of supreme value, and so when he is expressing jealousy, that jealousy is supremely praiseworthy because it's about something of eternal value. It can't be any other way. God must be committed to his own glory and honor in his name because he's of infinite worth. To do otherwise would be not to be God, to be untruthful about the reality of the situation.”

#JealousForGodsHonor
“What we consecrate ourselves to is a serious matter. This leads to the question I asked earlier, how should the fact that God is jealous shape our relationship to him? The answer is we should be jealous with the jealousy of God. Like Phineas? Well, not exactly like Phineas because we are in a kingdom not of spears, but of righteousness and peace and joy in the holy spirit. But, yes, like Phineas, same God, same supreme worth revealed in Christ. We should be jealous like Phineas. So be less offended over slights to you and be more offended of how God is dishonored. Not only for the sake of God and his glory, but for the sake of the one who's in darkness. Whenever you are offended, you are risking becoming to yourself kind of god like. It could become idolatry.”

#CrossRevealsRighteousness
“Paul says, the cross shows God's righteousness. How does the cross show God's righteousness? Perfect man had to die on our behalf, had to come from all of heaven, had to suffer perfect man. That's how righteous he is. That's how severe his holiness can be. He goes on to say the cross was to show his righteousness at the present time so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. The cross doesn't just say that God is the forgiver. The cross also says God is the holy righteous judge, and sin is an affront to him. It has both.”

#WorshipIsPrimary
“Behavior is an issue and patterns of behavior. But the first and primary issue is a issue of devotion or worship. Ask yourself, what am I devoted to? What have I exchanged the God of truth for in my life? If you're in a rut of sin and you don't and you're struggling in a rut of sin, you don't really have a behavioral problem first. You have a worship problem. The love of the lord is what you need. You've been beguiled into thinking that you can coast and you'll be good and you don't have to love the lord your god with all your heart, strength, and might. And that is one foot in the camp of idolatry right there.”
