“``He said, I realized I could either allow hatred and revenge against my captors to take root in my heart or I could choose to have the love of Christ even towards those who beat me. And he chose the latter. He never did get justice for what happened, but what happened that night gave him a platform for witness. And muscle memory took over and he spent the rest of his days doing reconciliation. Not just talking, but doing. He lived by James one twenty two, be doers of the word and not hearers alone. Faith without works is dead. This is the theme of James, and it's my theme. It's your theme.”

“But what if what if we practiced what we preach in such a way that it began to become automatic so that instead of lashing out, we responded by pulling in? Well, just what if? I'm not saying you can do it right away, but I'm saying that that can happen when we walk closely with Jesus. And the way you practice is, you know, you show up at church, come to worship, maybe get involved in a Bible study, maybe at high school you're in young life or FCA or something like that, or maybe you're doing a mission. Maybe you're working at harvest hands or healing housing, maybe you're helping out with South Africa like a lot of you do. That's the way you practice.”
