Interpretation questions- Job shows Satan needing permission and operating within limits. How should that shape the way a believer understands severe suffering that feels chaotic or targeted? [30:59]
- Proverbs 21:1 and Romans 13:1-7 both speak about rulers being under God’s hand. How can those truths be held together with the fact that governments often seem flawed, unjust, or frightening? [36:18]
- Fear, dread, and constant attention can become a form of worship. What does that reveal about the heart’s tendency to give weight and devotion to whatever seems most powerful? [38:09]
- Luke 21 does not deny distress, perplexity, or shaking. Why does Christ tell his people to look up rather than collapse in fear, and what does that reveal about how believers are meant to read troubled times? [41:08]
Application questions- When life feels unstable, what is the first place the mind tends to go—toward God’s rule, toward fear, toward anger, or toward trying to control everything personally? What usually exposes that most clearly? [27:02]
- Is there a present burden that feels out of control right now—a family situation, a health concern, the state of the nation, or something else? How would remembering God’s boundaries over evil change the way that burden is carried this week? [29:47]
- Many people give daily attention to things that make them fearful. Has fear of evil, cultural decline, or government taken more mental space than trust in God lately? What might it look like to turn that attention back toward the Lord? [37:17]
- Scripture says believers can end up giving worship even to something they hate by continually fearing it and fixating on it. Is there anything that has been receiving that kind of attention in life right now? [39:03]
- Romans 13 calls governing authority “God’s servant.” Where is it hardest to live that out in practice—speech, attitude, paying what is owed, or showing respect and honor? Why does that area feel difficult? [35:38]
- Christ says, “look up, and lift up your heads.” What would that look like in a very practical way over the next few days when hearing discouraging news or facing a discouraging circumstance? [41:25]
- Christians are not called to live in doom and gloom. In what setting is hopeful witness most needed right now—at home, at work, in church, or online—and how could a more steady confidence in God be seen there? [39:32]
