Integrity and Transparency: A Life Pleasing to God
Summary
In today's gathering at Bayside Baptist Church, we explored the profound themes of integrity and transparency before God, as illustrated in Psalm 26. This psalm, a prayer for vindication by David, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of living a life of integrity, both in private and public spheres. David, despite his imperfections and past sins, consistently turned to God in repentance, seeking forgiveness and restoration. This act of turning to God is a testament to his understanding of God's heart and his desire to live a life pleasing to the Lord.
We delved into the concept of integrity, emphasizing that it is not about living two separate lives but rather one life that is honest and transparent before God and others. This integrity is not self-proclaimed goodness but a heart's devotion to God, inviting Him to inspect and guide us. We are challenged to grow in holiness, to separate ourselves from wickedness, and to pursue purity in our worship and daily lives.
The sermon also highlighted the universality of the struggle to live transparently before God, whether one is a believer or an unbeliever. For believers, the call is to confess and repent of sins, trusting in God's faithfulness to forgive and restore. For unbelievers, the invitation is to turn from sin and put trust in Jesus, the one who lived perfectly and transparently before God.
Ultimately, the message is one of hope and transformation. Through Jesus Christ, we can live a life of integrity, entrusting ourselves to God who judges justly. This life of transparency and honesty is not only possible but essential for a fulfilling relationship with God and others. As we partake in the Lord's Supper, we are reminded of Christ's sacrifice and the new covenant in His blood, which enables us to live in right relationship with God.

Quotes
Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Prove me, O Lord, and try me. Test my heart, my mind, for your steadfast love is before my eyes and I walk in your faithfulness. [00:29:42] (17 seconds)
David, if you read about David, he was always, church, quick to turn to God in repentance and ask for God's forgiveness. So even though he struggled against sin, he gives us an incredible example of what to do when we struggle against sin. Turn to God and seek his forgiveness. David understood God's heart. [00:28:48] (24 seconds)
He's asking God to act, and he's doing so boldly. He's trusting in God's faithfulness. You see, a life that is lived with integrity is one that is lived blameless and honest. It's one life. It's not two. We're all guilty of this. We all live different lives. [00:31:38] (25 seconds)
But David's living one life, and he's not living it arrogantly, okay? It's a statement. When he's saying he's living one life, it's a statement of his heart's devotion to God, and he's boldly inviting God to check him out, to inspect him. That's challenging for me. [00:32:37] (21 seconds)
Holiness demands separation, and it demands pursuit, two different things, separation and pursuit. The separation part is that David rejected the wicked. He rejected habitual liars. He rejected the religious pretenders who sit in the pews every Sunday and check the box. He rejected those folks. [00:35:24] (21 seconds)
Christian, confessing and repenting of sin is essential for living with integrity. Do you want to know what it is to live with integrity? Use that sentence. Confessing and repenting of sin. What does that mean? It means telling God about the wrongs that you've done. He knows your thought life. [00:39:16] (18 seconds)
In Christ, you can live honestly. You can live transparently before God. You can live with integrity before God and others. You can put on the jersey, then look like a zebra and blow the whistle with authority and not second-guess the call you're making. Remember those referees. [00:52:34] (20 seconds)
Acts chapter 4 says, This Jesus, this Jesus who I proclaim to you this morning, this Jesus who died on a cross is the Christ. This Jesus is the stone the builders rejected. This Jesus has become the cornerstone. And in this Jesus, there's no salvation in anyone else. [00:53:06] (17 seconds)
And knowing all this, knowing all this means that we can change. We can change. We can have confidence that we can turn to God. We can have confidence that we can state our case before the Almighty. We can have confidence. We can boldly approach the throne and ask God to act. [00:49:10] (21 seconds)
But as believers, we have every reason to uncover what's really going on in our hearts and confess it because we believe this right here. First John 1, 9, if we turn and confess our unrighteousness, he's faithful and just to forgive. We believe that. [00:51:15] (22 seconds)
To my brothers and sisters here at Bayside, please don't miss this. David's devotion to God expresses itself in delighting in God in every aspect of his life. Remember, David's living one life. His heart's devoted to God. He invites the Lord to inspect him. [00:51:50] (18 seconds)
