The foundation of a life that honors God is to know who He is and to love Him with every part of your being. This wholehearted devotion is not just a command but an invitation to experience the fullness of life as God intended. When you center your heart, soul, and strength on loving God, everything else in life begins to align, and your relationships, decisions, and actions flow from that central love. This is the core truth that shapes not only your own life but also the lives of those you influence. [37:26]
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (ESV)
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
Reflection: What is one practical way you can intentionally express your love for God with your whole heart, soul, and strength today?
You are called to impress God’s truth on the hearts of children and those around you, not just through formal teaching but by weaving faith naturally into the rhythms of daily life. Whether you are sitting at home, walking along the road, lying down, or getting up, every moment is an opportunity to share who God is and what He has done. These conversations don’t have to be forced or awkward; they can be genuine, brief, and rooted in real experiences, making faith a living part of everyday life. [39:31]
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 (ESV)
“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Reflection: As you go about your day, what is one ordinary moment you can use to naturally talk about God with someone in your life?
When children or others ask questions about faith, it is a powerful opportunity to point them back to God’s story and His faithfulness. Instead of simply giving rules or instructions, share the reasons behind your faith—how God has acted in history and in your own life. By connecting their curiosity to God’s love and rescue, you help them see that faith is not just about rules but about a relationship with a God who saves and guides. [45:18]
Deuteronomy 6:20-23 (ESV)
“When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’ then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. And the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes. And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land that he swore to give to our fathers.’”
Reflection: Think of a recent question someone asked you about your faith or values—how can you answer in a way that points to God’s faithfulness in your life?
Every person you encounter—whether your own child, a friend, or a stranger—has incredible value in God’s eyes. God calls you to treat others with love and respect, using your words and actions to affirm their worth. When you choose to see people as God sees them, you become an instrument of His love, helping others experience the reality of their value and inviting them to know the God who created them. [47:06]
James 3:9-10 (ESV)
“With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.”
Reflection: Who is one person you will encounter today that you can intentionally affirm and value with your words or actions, reflecting God’s love for them?
No matter your past or how you’ve lived out your relationships so far, it is never too late to begin living with Christ at the center and to start pointing others toward Him. The gospel is about second chances, forgiveness, and hope—God invites you to start fresh, to know Him deeply, and to be present in the lives of those around you. As you trust God to work through you, your life can become a channel of His peace, forgiveness, and hope to others. [50:49]
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Reflection: What is one step you can take today to begin (or begin again) pointing someone in your life toward Christ, trusting God to use you in their journey?
Today’s focus is on the profound privilege and responsibility we have to help the next generation—and indeed, everyone in our sphere of influence—know and follow God. Drawing from Deuteronomy 6, we see that the foundation of a life well-lived is to love God with all our heart, soul, and strength. This is not just a command for parents, but for all of us, as we are all part of God’s family and have opportunities to influence others, whether they are our children, friends, coworkers, or neighbors.
The passage calls us to impress God’s truth on the hearts of those around us, not through forced or artificial means, but through the natural rhythms of daily life. It’s in the ordinary moments—driving to school, sharing a meal, or having a quiet conversation at bedtime—that we can gently and authentically point others to God. These moments don’t require us to preach sermons, but to be present, attentive, and willing to share how God is real in our own lives.
A key insight is that we cannot pass on what we do not possess. Before we can guide others, we must first know God ourselves. This means cultivating our own relationship with Him, understanding His Word, and allowing His love to shape us from the inside out. Only then can we authentically share that love and truth with others.
Another practical aspect is responding to the questions that naturally arise, especially from children. Instead of dismissing their curiosity or giving rote answers, we are invited to use their questions as opportunities to point them back to God’s character and His work in our lives. Whether the question is about why we live a certain way or how to handle a difficult situation, our answers can help others see God’s goodness and wisdom.
Importantly, it’s never too late to start. Whether we feel we’ve missed opportunities in the past or are just now realizing the importance of this calling, God’s grace offers us a fresh start. As we invite the Holy Spirit to guide us, we can become people who consistently point others to Christ, helping them experience forgiveness, peace, and hope. This is the heart of a Christ-centered life, and it’s what we all long for ourselves and for those we love.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 20-25 (ESV) —
> 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
> 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
> 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
> 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
> 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
> 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
> 20 “When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’
> 21 then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
> 22 And the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes.
> 23 And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land that he swore to give to our fathers.
> 24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day.
> 25 And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.’
So think about what's wrapped up in this. The central idea is that parents are supposed to pass on to their kids what it is they know about God and who he is and how he wants to relate to them. But if you think about that for a second, we can't actually pass on to other people something that we don't ourselves have, right? I mean, so that means that first off, the first thing that parents have to do is we have to know who God is for ourselves. We have to know what it is he says about life and what his commands are. We need to study and read his word and understand it. And this is important because we can't tell our kids or other people in our life about God if we don't actually know God ourselves. Like, we can't point someone towards something that we don't have. We can't pass along to somebody else something that we don't ourselves have. So as parents, right, our first job is to know God for ourselves. [00:39:49] (51 seconds) #KnowGodFirst
But it doesn't stop there, right? Because once we get God into our hearts, we need to do the work of trying to get that into the life of our kids. And then this is where the text gets really helpful because it turns out that the way you do that is through simply doing life together, really looking for opportunities to make the most of the time that you have with them and take the natural things that you're already doing in the course of the life with your kids in your day and use them to start conversations about who God is and what he's done. [00:40:39] (29 seconds) #LiveFaithTogether
But when you have those opportunities, like you realize, okay, there's something special about this. And most of the time for me as a parent, when that happens, it's when I'm driving a kid somewhere, like we're going to a doctor's appointment or to a sporting event, or there's something going on at the school. And I guess I've just realized that these one -on -one times, they're just golden opportunities for conversation, right? That's when you can ask your kids, well, hey, how's, how's it going? What's going on in your life? And I'm always amazed at how often in those conversations, there's something they say, there's some little comment that can be used to, to naturally talk about who God is in a way that's very normal. [00:42:20] (35 seconds) #GoldenOpportunities
And the way the parent's supposed to respond is really interesting. You notice the parent doesn't say, well, because God said so. So he said, dad, why is it that we're supposed to follow these laws and decrees? And he's like, oh, son, you've got to remember, we used to be slaves in Egypt until God showed up. And God changed absolutely everything for us when he rescued us. And when he rescued us, he then gave us this beautiful design, these laws of how we can live in a way that honors him, where we really can live the best kind of life as we're with him, living according to his way. [00:45:47] (32 seconds) #TeachThroughStories
And Martha said, you know, kids, other people might choose to use those words and say those sorts of things, but we don't want to do that. Because when we use those words, it's like we're using our words as a knife to try to hurt and to try to cut the other person. And that's not how God wants us to live. Because God loves everyone. God created everyone. God sees that everybody has incredible value, and he wants us to care for them and see people that same way with our actions and with our words. And those words, they don't show another person that they have value. Those words don't show another person that they care. [00:47:57] (38 seconds) #PointBackToGod
At seven, they're asking, why can't I do that? At 17, they're asking, what do you do when a friend betrays you? At 17, they're asking, why can't I do that? Okay, I really do think we can... I really do think we can...do a better job of trying to help our kids grow up into the people that God created them to be, right? All people have incredible value in God's eyes. And all of us either have children in our families or we know children. So we have opportunities to talk with them about God so they can learn about him and follow him. [00:49:05] (80 seconds) #RaiseWithPurpose
And here's maybe the very best part of all of this. It's never too late to start doing this. It's never too late to say, okay, like, oh, this is new information. I never really thought about it this way before. Or to say, yeah, I've been kind of falling down on the job. I haven't really been living in these relationships the way I should, but I'm willing to take steps to invite God's spirit to help me start moving in this direction. Because ultimately that's what the gospel is all about. It's about having a second chance, right? It's about starting over and allowing God to help us get it right for a change. [00:50:46] (34 seconds) #InfluenceWithLove
And I just want to invite you to stop for a second and just imagine what would the world be like if we all did this? If every single one of us, as God empowered us, chose to see all of the people that we meet as people who are really loved and highly valued by God. And if we did everything that we could to try to help them know that that is true and to learn about God. [00:51:19] (22 seconds) #NeverTooLate
I mean, the more that we can do that, the more our lives and the lives of those around us really can be these full free Christ center lives that God intended them to be. Because that's what this is really all about. We believe that life is better when Christ is at the very center of it. That is how we experience forgiveness from our past. That is how we experience peace in the present. And that's where we find a reason to have hope in the future. [00:51:41] (25 seconds) #ImagineFaithImpact
And the way to get there is very simple when you look at the text. You have to know Christ yourself. And then you have to be present in the lives of the people around you. And just do everything that you can to point them towards Christ, trusting that he will take it from there. [00:52:20] (16 seconds) #HopePeaceForgiveness
