The anointing heals tumors, silences shame, and loves the unlovable—not through striving, but through surrender. Your role isn’t to fix, but to abide. Like swapping worn-out strength for fresh vigor each morning, His mercies recalibrate your capacity to thrive. Even in trials, “better than ever” isn’t denial—it’s defiance against despair, rooted in Christ’s undiminished power. What will you let Him renew today? [01:36:24]

Sermon Summary

Christ sets the frame by calling the church “lively stones” built into a spiritual house, perfectly fitted to the Cornerstone. The wall image carries the load. A stone in the wall is strong. A stone out of the wall becomes a stumbling stone. So the call is simple and stubborn. Stay in the wall. Ephesians says the whole building is fitly framed together, growing into a holy temple. That means position matters. Christ builds, not human hustle. When people jump out to build their own walls of offense or bitterness, they step out of the build Jesus is doing.

John 10:10 names the fight. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and he tries it one stone at a time. But Jesus comes to give life and life more abundantly. Abundant does not mean more stuff. It means overflow. Exceedingly beyond measure. Over and above. The overflow looks like presence in battles, provision in pressure, peace in the storm, wisdom for decisions, strength to endure, and joy that will not quit. The Shepherd goes before. His rod and staff comfort. Goodness and mercy do not just trail along, they actively pursue.

The wall shows what surrounds a believer when rightly placed. Christ is before. The Spirit is within. The Father’s hand is over and under. Angels encamp all around. The church stands beside to strengthen, build up, and encourage. The call is to walk one step at a time. Stay inside the headlights. Follow the next footprint. Do not try to see the tenth step when Jesus is lighting the first.

The anointing explains the overflow. Isaiah says the yoke is destroyed because of the anointing. In the New Testament, the anointing is the Holy Spirit upon and within. It is not goosebumps. It is God’s enablement to do what no one can do alone. It breaks bondages, brings healing, gives wisdom, leads, and produces freedom where condemnation used to rule. Jesus, the Anointed One, lives in his people, so the anointing abides, not just visits. Fresh oil makes fresh fruit. Shields get washed in the water of the Word and rubbed with oil so faith stays pliable and fiery darts get quenched.

Abundance is for mission. Tools should talk. Trucks, tackle, jump boxes, all of it becomes a testimony when goodness and mercy ride along. The river does not drink its own water. The tree does not eat its own fruit. Cups run over so others receive. Positioned in the wall, the church lives better than ever, not because life is perfect, but because God is still on the throne, the Spirit still fills, angels still surround, goodness and mercy still follow, and the hand of God is still upon his people.
