Life can feel unpredictable, like the weather that can change in an instant, disrupting our plans and routines. In these moments of uncertainty, it's easy to feel unsettled. Yet, even when external circumstances shift dramatically, God remains on His throne, His purposes unwavering. He is still at work, and He calls us to live out the purposes He has established for us, regardless of what is happening around us. [30:58]
Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)
"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Reflection: When unexpected changes disrupt your plans, where do you most often find your thoughts drifting towards anxiety, and how might you intentionally shift your focus to God's unchanging purposes?
In a world that constantly pulls us in different directions, the core of a meaningful life is found in alignment with God's will. This series has emphasized that true purpose isn't about outward activity but about aligning our hearts, minds, and spirits with what God is doing. It's a continuous process of seeking His direction, asking for correction when we stray, and intentionally moving in step with His purposes for us as individuals and as a community. [33:37]
Ephesians 3:20 (ESV)
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,"
Reflection: Reflect on a recent situation where you felt a disconnect between your actions and what you believe God is calling you to do. What small adjustment could you make this week to better align your life with His direction?
At the heart of our existence, both individually and as a church, is a simple yet profound purpose: to help people find and follow Jesus. This mission extends beyond initial encounters; it involves walking alongside others, encouraging them to continue on the path of discipleship. The gathering of believers is essential for this journey, providing mutual encouragement and support as we collectively pursue Jesus. [35:28]
Mark 10:45 (ESV)
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Reflection: Consider someone in your life who may be seeking to find or follow Jesus more closely. What is one specific way you can offer encouragement or support to them this week?
True spiritual power is released not through our own efforts to control everything, but through lives surrendered to God's full charge. When we cease striving and begin to fully trust Him with our plans, our lives become shaped by His unchanging truth and fueled by consistent prayer. This posture of surrender and reliance on God's power is where we discover His ability to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine. [36:40]
1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)
"casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."
Reflection: Identify one area of your life where you tend to grip tightly, resisting surrender. What is one small step you can take this week to release that grip and entrust it to God through prayer?
The path of sacrifice, modeled by Jesus, is not a path of loss but a pathway to life and unbridled joy. This joy is not found in protecting our comfort or possessions, but in participating in God's mission through giving. When we willingly sacrifice our time, resources, and energy for the sake of the gospel, we experience a profound and lasting joy that flows from serving others and witnessing lives transformed. [46:42]
Acts 20:35 (ESV)
"In all things I have shown you that by working in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’"
Reflection: Think about a recent opportunity where you chose to give of your time, resources, or energy, even when it was inconvenient. How did that act of giving impact your own sense of joy or fulfillment?
Everything in life can be stripped away, but God's purposes remain. The congregation is urged to align with one clear calling: help people find and follow Jesus. Vision gives direction; surrender unleashes the Spirit's power; serving moves belief into practical love; and sacrifice proves the depth of commitment. These values are not abstract ideals but concrete rhythms—standing on unchanging Scripture, persisting in unceasing prayer, serving with unconditional love, living as uncommon neighbors, and embracing sacrifice with the expectation of joy. Sacrifice is portrayed not as failure or loss but as the way of Jesus: he repeatedly laid aside comfort, reputation, convenience, and ultimately life itself. That costly obedience produced the joy of redemption and the advance of the kingdom.
Practical examples punctuate the call: small, inconvenient acts of service matter as much as dramatic missions; giving that stretches the heart aligns resources with God's mission; and hidden acts of faithfulness shape a church from activity into lasting impact. The record from Ephesians is central—God does immeasurably more than can be asked or imagined through a people surrendered to him. The invitation is both communal and personal: live these values not only in programs but in everyday decisions—showing up when it’s hard, opening hands instead of gripping tightly, and trusting that joy follows obedience. The closing summons calls for response: those who need prayer or want to begin following Jesus are invited to step forward, and the church is reminded that living these truths is the work ahead, empowered by the Spirit and aimed at seeing real lives changed.
When we stop trying to say, well, I can dot the i's, I can cross the t, I can make the plans and say, wait a minute. God, you're fully in charge. I'm looking for your plans. I'll fully surrender to what you wanna do. I wanna fully trust that the God of the universe, the God who made it all, is still sovereign, is still on the throne, and so I'll fully trust him with my life. We learned that God's power is released through surrendered lives, lives shaped by unchanging truth, which is the word of God.

In other words, look at his life and do what he did. Sacrifice, it's not some advanced level Christianity. It's not like, oh, well, I'm a Christian, but I'm down here. But the real Christians are the ones who have matured enough or grown up. They're up here with some high level. No. It's the bare bottom of all Christianity is that we walk in sacrifice because that's what Jesus did. It's the normal response to following Jesus.
