1. "God gives us these instructions in order to preserve our lives. The subtitle of our series is Life Preservers. And our series is God's Instructions for Flourishing. 3. "To invoke a name, especially the name of God, was to invoke God's presence and his power and his purpose. And so, he's saying, don't misuse my name. And, well, if we want to obey this commandment, then we probably might want to understand what God's name is." [05:03] (22 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

4. "He is the one who depends on no one. He just simply is. He is the one who is. The ultimate existent being. So to misuse the name of God is to belittle God and God's existence. To take away God's existence. To take His name, His presence, His power, and His purpose, and invoke it for some lesser purpose than His purpose." 5. "One of the ways we misuse God's name, again, is using God's name and invoking his power and presence for lesser goals, lesser purposes, lesser ends than the ultimate ends of knowing him. We don't want to misuse the name of the Lord. We want to serve his purposes." [25:45] (26 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6. "There's something about that name, Jesus. I love what Paul... Paul probably didn't write this, but it was a hymn that he used in his writing, most likely. But who cares? It's beautiful. Philippians 2, 9. Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow." 7. "Everything in God's plan, everything in God's universe has been pointing to Jesus the name that's above everything the name at which you and I and every other human being that's alive today who will ever live and who has ever lived will someday when Jesus returns we will bend the knee we will bow because he is the Lord he is the king."
