“In fact, most of us, we see somebody who says repent and they got on a sign. We avoid that person at the streetlight. Like, lord, when are you gonna turn this light green? They're looking at me. You do that thing where you pretend they're just not there? That's what we do to the holy spirit. He's there telling you repent, turn away from that sin, and you just rather look at other things. See, he doesn't only come to soothe what is wounded in you, he confronts what is rebellious in you, and we've all got it in one way or another. He's the comforter, but he is not a coddler either. He's king. He's lord. He comforts what is hurting, and he confronts what you are hiding. And we gotta stop blurring those two things.”

“His word is just as true on the Sunday mornings I'm on fire as it is on the Sunday mornings I find myself in a desert spent. And the spirit of god does not come down with my mood. He he's been in the car on all those empty mornings. He's been at this pulpit when I had nothing in the tank, and he has brought forth messages I was sure was dead on arrival and the worst thing I ever put to paper because he knew what needed to get into somebody's heart. So I stopped chasing the feeling, and instead, I'm gonna trust in the person. honestly, that's the only way I can do this even right now.”

“But here's the thing, the holy spirit doesn't come in segmented pieces that you curate and decide, well, I like this version of what god is, and I like this version of the spirit, so I'll take those things. And those things we'll just leave out. He doesn't come in pieces. He's not to assemble as you would require. You don't get to keep the parts of him that you like and discard the rest. He is a person. And so the spirit's not something you control. It's someone that you know. So write this down. Number two, the spirit is a teacher to trust.”
35s
“The spirit will come and he will teach and he will remind. The spirit's not a vibe that comes over you. He's a teacher who forms you. He brings the words of Jesus back to your mind and back into your heart and back into your soul when you need them. You've probably felt this before where you're talking to someone and this all of a sudden, a scripture comes to mind, a thing comes to mind that you learned about God, and it's the right thing you need in that right moment. That's not random. That's not luck. That's the teacher. That's the holy spirit doing exactly what Jesus said he would do.”
