Romans 8 keeps the hope of the body right out front. Paul says the first fruits of the Spirit are already present, but the adoption, the redemption of the body, is still being eagerly waited for with perseverance. Paul then piles up the questions. If God is for His people, who can be against them? Christ died, Christ rose, Christ sits at the right hand of God, and Christ also intercedes. The Holy Spirit intercedes too. The enemy uses tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, peril, sword, principalities, powers, natural forces, and spiritual forces to make people doubt the love of God. The love of God itself cannot be weakened, watered down, or extinguished. The real fight is in the crucible, when suffering tries to say God has backed away, and Romans 8 answers that nothing created can separate the saints from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
