Nicholas Winton’s quiet rescue of 664 children shows what can happen when somebody rearranges a plan and says yes to a need bigger than themselves. Winton’s sacrifice gave life to thousands of descendants, yet the call to rescue and serve is not just an inspiring story from history. Jesus sends His followers just as the Father sent Him, and that means every follower of Jesus has received a real call to be the change.
God’s plan is better than the plan anybody can dream up for themselves because God loves His children and is willing to pay the price for their good. God’s master plan calls His people to know God, discover purpose, get real, make a difference, and be the change. Jesus’ words, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you,” make clear that salvation is not the finish line. Forgiveness leads somewhere. Restoration comes with a commission.
Isaiah’s vision shows the whole movement. Isaiah sees God high and exalted, holy beyond anything he can comprehend, and then Isaiah sees himself in light of God’s purity. Isaiah’s cry, “Woe to me,” comes from the collision between human brokenness and God’s righteousness. God does not leave Isaiah ruined in shame. God sends a seraphim with a live coal from the altar, takes away Isaiah’s guilt, atones for his sin, and makes him able to stand in God’s presence.
God’s forgiveness then leads to God’s question: “Whom shall I send?” Isaiah knows that the people around him need the same encounter with God that he has received. Isaiah responds, “Here am I. Send me.” Christ’s followers carry that same calling into the local church and outside the church. The church needs people who use their shape to make its mission happen, but the world also needs people who take the church into real places of hunger, poverty, disaster, loneliness, and spiritual darkness.
Jesus sends His witnesses to Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the ends of the earth. James refuses to separate faith from tangible action, because words cannot warm, feed, shelter, or restore somebody in need. PCC’s Do Good movement puts that calling into motion through local service, disaster recovery, global partnerships, and invitations toward Jesus.
Kate’s story in Moldova shows why saying yes matters. God uses a team that refuses to quit after an empty first day, a mother’s hard decision, and a church’s sacrifice to give one young woman safety, education, faith, baptism, hope, and a future. God still has thousands more Kates out there. God’s plan A for changing the world is His people, empowered by His Spirit, answering His call: “Here am I. Send me.”

Key Takeaways
- 1. Forgiveness always leads to a calling [21:48] God does not cleanse Isaiah merely so that Isaiah can enjoy a holy moment. God removes Isaiah’s guilt and then invites Isaiah into His work. Grace is never earned by service, but grace that truly reaches a person begins to reshape what that person is willing to do. [21:48]
- 2. God sends ordinary, imperfect people [18:51] Isaiah does not become useful because he is naturally clean, strong, or impressive. God makes Isaiah clean by giving him what he cannot provide for himself. Christ’s followers do not wait until every motive, failure, and fear has been fixed before responding to God’s call. [18:51]
- 3. Faith must touch tangible human need [30:09] James refuses to treat kind religious words as enough when somebody lacks food or clothing. Faith becomes visible when it moves toward suffering with hands, time, money, attention, and sacrifice. Physical care does not replace the gospel, but it gives flesh and weight to the gospel being proclaimed. [30:09]
- 4. Faithfulness matters after disappointing beginnings [36:47] God’s call does not always produce immediate results, as the team in Gerblesh learned when no children came on the first day. Faithfulness means refusing to measure God’s purpose by the size of the first crowd or the ease of the assignment. God can turn eight children into a changed village and one hard decision into a whole new future. [36:47]
- 5. “Here am I” changes eternal outcomes [43:22] God uses willing people to alter lives that they may never fully see on this side of heaven. Every sacrificed Saturday, every trip, every act of service, and every faithful yes can become part of somebody else’s story of hope. God’s power brings revival, but God chooses to live that power out through faithful followers.
