#SecureInChrist
“``Listen, the greatest thing in your life is that you have been adopted and redeemed and bought back by Jesus who paid the price for your sins. And that has been the grace that you have received that lasts not temporarily, but for eternity. No matter what happens in this world, no matter if you get the life you wanted or you don't, you are secure in Christ. That, my friends, is the best thing that you have going for you. God doesn't owe you anything else. He didn't even owe you the cross. That was a gift that he gave to us. He doesn't owe you anything else. So recognize that.”

#HeavenWillMakeItRight
“``He's writing this song and hoping to see Connor one day. And I gotta tell you, some of us have experienced great grief in this room. And one day, if they knew Jesus, you will see them again one day. But that's not the best thing of heaven. The best thing of heaven is that you will see Jesus. Jesus might be holding Connor. The best thing about heaven is that Jesus will be there. You will wipe away every tear. My friends, whatever you've battled with on this side, you will not battle on the other side. You will not battle depression. You will not battle anxiety. You will not not be burnout, and there will not be suicide in heaven. Whatever mental challenges that you have, one day, it will be all made right.”

#GrieveDontIdolize
“``The first half of the book, he does okay because he he asks God questions, and he he tells God his pain and his hurt. You can do that. The second half of the book, he crosses a line. Your depression, you can be depressed. It's okay. But you cannot cross the line to where your depression becomes idolatrous. What does that mean? When you you can grieve that you didn't get the life that you wanted, but if you believe that something other than Jesus is going to fulfill your life and you tell him that, you've crossed the line.”

#GrieveButDontSettle
“``You can too. Name it. Listen, I know most of us in the room, our life has not turned out the way we wanted it to turn out. If we're really, really honest, we go back forty years, thirty years, and you thought your life was heading out and it hasn't happened, reap that. You didn't get the kids you wanted. You didn't get the parents you wanted. Or you wanted kids you didn't get kids. You didn't get the marriage you wanted. You wanted you wanted that job. You wanted that career. You wanted that whatever it is, you fill in the blank. Grieve that. Rieve that. Sit in it and name it, but then don't stay there. Do not stay there. That's the danger that we live there. And then we begin to think that there's something else that will fulfill me and give me what only God can give you.”

#HealingThroughCommunity
“``by the hand of Moses and Aaron, and I circle that. Sometimes the healing that God wants to provide you is found in someone else. It might be a friend. It might be a family member. It might be a counselor. It might be an accountability partner in recovery or a sponsor in recovery. God can heal. He can do it through other individuals. That's why it's so important. God never says all you need is me. He says you need me, and you need other people in your life. I'm a big fan of Christian counselors. It's a type of healing. And if you've been told don't ever see a counselor, no. If you wanna heal from it, you gotta deal with it. We have a referral list. If you would like, reach out to the office. We'd be happy to send you a list of some counselors that we highly recommend and trust.”

#NameYourPainToGod
“``But I bring I bring us in on these first these last few verses. Remember where the Psalm started? Who's the subject in these last few verses? You see it? The clouds poured out water. The skies gave your arrows. The crash of your thunder, your lightning. Your way was to the scene. Your path, the great warriors, your footprints were unseen. You led your people like a flock by hand. Listen. Do you see the change in perspective from first three verses to the end of the chapter? It's shifted. You have the right you have the right to be honest with God. In fact, that I would encourage you, be honest with God. If you're going through something really difficult today, name it. Bring it to God. Call it what it is. Tell him, this is really, really hard. Start there, but don't end there.”

#ItsOkayToBeHonest
“``You can be honest with God. It's okay to say, I know one day it'll be okay, but today it's really difficult. Today it's hard. The stay at school was the most difficult day I've ever had in my life. It's okay. You know it won't always be that way, but today it's okay to sit in it and call it and name it and say I'm hurting. Today was awful. I know that is not the story of my entire life, but today, I feel it. I feel the pain. I moan. I meditate.”

#JustSitWithThem
“``And yet sometimes we try to say things, and we say Christian cliches that try to make somebody feel good. Your presence is much more important than your words in a season like that. If you have a friend I've had friends who, I remember going to see a friend, quote, unquote, normal guy, whatever that means. Couldn't get off the couch. I'm like, I'll just go cheer him up. Couldn't get off the couch no matter what I said. So sometimes you just need to sit with a friend or a family member. I can't imagine what you're going through. I'm so sorry. That sounds awful. I don't know what to say. You don't know what to say? Say I don't know what to say. Just sit with them.”
