Day 1: Engaging with the Holy Spirit through Prayer and Scripture
The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in the life of a believer, being as much God as the Father and the Son. Engaging with the Holy Spirit through prayer and immersion in God's Word increases our sensitivity to His guidance. This relationship is crucial for living a life led by God, as it allows us to walk in the Spirit rather than the flesh. Romans 8:13-14 emphasizes that those led by the Spirit are sons of God, highlighting the importance of this divine guidance. By nurturing this relationship, believers can experience a mature Christian walk, characterized by a daily dependence on the Holy Spirit. [07:23]
"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!'" (Romans 8:14-15, ESV)
Reflection: How can you intentionally create space in your daily routine to engage more deeply with the Holy Spirit through prayer and Scripture today?
Day 2: Distinguishing the Spirit's Voice from Emotional Impulses
Discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit amidst emotional impulses is essential for a life led by God. This discernment is cultivated through a life steeped in prayer and Scripture, where the Spirit's voice becomes clearer and more distinct. In environments rich with Pentecostal expressions, it is crucial to remain grounded in Scripture and prayer to ensure that actions align with God's will. By differentiating between emotionalism and the Spirit's leading, believers can follow the true guidance of the Holy Spirit in their lives. [08:40]
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." (1 John 4:1, ESV)
Reflection: Think of a recent decision you made. How can you discern whether it was led by the Holy Spirit or influenced by emotional impulses?
Day 3: Faithfulness in Small Acts of Obedience
God often tests our obedience in small, everyday actions, preparing us for greater responsibilities in His kingdom. By responding faithfully to these promptings, believers demonstrate their willingness to be used by God. This obedience in small things is a testament to one's faith and trust in God's plan. As believers prove faithful in these minor tasks, they are entrusted with larger responsibilities, allowing them to grow in their spiritual journey and impact God's kingdom in significant ways. [10:07]
"One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much." (Luke 16:10, ESV)
Reflection: What small act of obedience is God prompting you to take today, and how can you respond faithfully?
Day 4: Stepping Out of Comfort Zones in Faith
The Holy Spirit often leads believers into areas that challenge their comfort zones, requiring them to rely fully on God. This step of faith is essential for spiritual growth and experiencing God's power in their lives. By trusting God in areas where they feel least secure, believers demonstrate their faith and willingness to be used by Him. This journey out of comfort zones allows believers to witness God's work in their lives and grow in their relationship with Him. [12:13]
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9, ESV)
Reflection: Identify an area in your life where you feel God is calling you out of your comfort zone. What step of faith can you take today to trust Him more fully?
Day 5: Seeking Personal Revival and Spiritual Renewal
Revivals, like the Asbury Revival, serve as opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual renewal. Instead of critiquing these movements, believers should seek God's presence in their lives, asking how He wants to work in and through them. By focusing on personal revival, believers can experience spiritual growth and renewal, allowing them to impact their communities and the world for God's kingdom. This personal reflection is a crucial aspect of a believer's spiritual journey, leading to a deeper relationship with God. [28:41]
"Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation." (Psalm 85:6-7, ESV)
Reflection: How can you invite God to bring personal revival and spiritual renewal into your life today? What specific area of your life needs His transformative touch?
Sermon Summary
In today's discussion, we explored the profound role of the Holy Spirit in guiding our lives as believers. Understanding the Holy Spirit's leading is crucial for a mature Christian walk. Romans 8:13-14 reminds us that those led by the Spirit are sons of God, emphasizing the importance of living by the Spirit rather than the flesh. Walking in the Spirit involves a daily dependence and interaction with the Holy Spirit, who is as much God as the Father and the Son. This relationship is nurtured through prayer and immersion in God's Word, which heightens our sensitivity to the Spirit's guidance.
The Holy Spirit often communicates through impressions on our hearts, confirmed by circumstances or through others. These leadings can be subtle or as clear as a lightning bolt, but they always require a step of faith. God often calls us out of our comfort zones, asking us to trust Him in areas where we feel least secure. This trust is a testament to our faith and willingness to be used by God.
We also touched on the importance of discerning the Spirit's voice amidst emotionalism, especially in environments rich with Pentecostal expressions. The key is to remain grounded in Scripture and prayer, ensuring our actions align with God's will. Additionally, we discussed the significance of obedience in small things, which prepares us for greater responsibilities in God's kingdom.

Sermon Clips
Romans chapter uh eight um says this verse 13 says for if you live according to the flesh you will die but if by the spirit you put to death the Deeds of the body and will live now here's a key point for all who are led by the spirit are sons of God so what does it mean what does it take for us to be led by the spirit [00:06:39]
Paul likes to use the phrase walking in the spirit he does that in Galatians chapter 5 verse 14 and he talks about how we need that daily dependence and interaction with the Holy Spirit now what I want you guys to understand is is that the holy spirit is the third person of the Trinity he's just as much God as God the father in Jesus Christ the son [00:07:23]
If we are in God's word if we are in it in times of prayer the the awareness the sensitivity to the holy spirit is going to increase it is going to to be more apparent as opposed to if we're not okay because why because we're tapped in to that Living Water where we know what's happening [00:08:40]
When the Holy Spirit leads there's I I found there's several things that happen one I I feel an impression upon my heart now when I say feel I'm not talking about like Goosebumps I'm just feeling like God is is kind of speaking to me and showing me things through I'm reading the scripture and other things like this is the direction that he wants me to go [00:09:02]
Oftentimes God's using those to see if we're going to be obedient and and he wants to see us be obedient in the small things and then we'll be more then we'll be ready for the bigger things and so now I use that and that's not the only example that's the one that that people understand but but the thing there's other things too [00:10:07]
There'll be times that'll feel like lightning bolts you know like okay God wants you to do this but then there's other times there's subtle times like I need to um I I need to God wants you to do this like this last last Saturday I was you know as David was talking to the board he's like hey I was getting I I needed to hop on a plane to go to on a trip but God just kind of spoke to me as I was getting ready like hey you need to do a live broadcast [00:12:13]
There has to be a step of faith there has to be a step of Faith okay there's no way that it's going to work unless we're willing to be used by God in areas that takes us out of our comfort zones rarely does the spirit lead in areas that I'm like oh I'm I'm I'm super comfortable in this area you know why because oftentimes I run out in front of God [00:12:54]
I believe they happen partly so that we can check our heart with God and what I mean by that is simply this instead of listening to The Experts of other people I think it should draw us closer to God and we should be asking God is this real and and not stay at is this is real but continue on like Lord this is what I want in my life this is what I want in my family this is what I want in my church and in my community [00:28:41]
Revival is not is is is a messy thing because you have broken individuals coming in seeking the face of God and anytime people seek the face of God that's a good thing now are there going to be excess yes and you can't prevent it um I've seen people use the weed and The Tear thing I have a problem with that [00:29:51]
When we see this happening we need to ask in our heart okay Lord what what what do you want to do where do you want to go with this and and how do you want this to infect uh affect me and infect me as well too so um I hope that that helps you out send another question back in if you want more clarification [00:30:14]
Faith is that trust okay um uh um second Corinthians we walk by faith not by sight okay our desire and our human flesh is to be people who um they won't have everything planned out they want to see it beforehand okay um and and so faith is a it is is is is is doing something not blindly okay because our heart is having trust on the Lord but doing so with the full understanding that God is Sovereign and in control [00:35:40]
Hope is the yearning of the heart to be reunited with Jesus Christ and the assurance that it's going to happen hope is that that driving force inside of us that that everything is going to work out hope is is that that belief um and that faith that Jesus Christ is who he says he is and is going to do what he says he's going to do and you put your hope in that [00:37:40]
