1. "As we've kind of been going through this guidance series, all of us have these stories of wrong turns, wrong directions, missing the mark. And tonight, or today, we're going to look at just another tool that we have in our tool belt of how do we get guidance. How do we make wise decisions? How do we know where to go? And that tool that we're going to see today is this, is God's word, is that God speaks to us through this book." [36:54] (33 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2. "For me, I grew up with a family that was, in church, that was regularly doing what this verse talks about. My son, keep your father's commands. My dad was speaking to me what the Bible said. He was setting example and do not forsake your mother's teaching. My mom raised us in the scripture, in word, in faith, in church. And I know that's not everybody's situation. Not all of you grew up that way." [38:21] (26 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "Some of you, you've got young kids. You get to walk this out with them, that you get to be the first voice. That starts guiding them down the path. This is a responsibility that God gives to each of us as parents, right? As I'm driving to Orlando and flipping the page, one of the friends, whoever's sitting in that passenger seat right there, they're reading off, here's the next step. All right, when you get to that exit, you're going to take that exit. Those kind of things. They're giving me the steps." [39:52] (30 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

4. "I can think of countless times where I would wake up early in the morning and see my dad at the kitchen table. I would wake up early in the morning and see my dad at the kitchen table. With this Bible open. And he's journaling. He's praying. He's spending time with the Lord. I counted up six houses that my mom has lived in since I was born. And I could tell you in each house exactly where her devotional books were." [42:49] (28 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

5. "But something happens, right? Kids grow up. They get to have this thing that God has instilled in all of us, this free will to figure out life on their own. And as your kids have grown up or they will grow up, that at some point they become, responsible for their own decisions. And it becomes their own job to learn to hear the Holy Spirit's voice out of this book. Because this book speaks to us." [44:14] (32 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6. "I need the Holy Spirit at work to say, God, I need you to bind this book up in my life. That it would be what flavors who I am and what speaks that when I speak, even that your word is what comes out of my mouth. That means I need the Holy Spirit speaking into my life. Now, he'll do that, but that requires still some action out of me, some steps that I take to help bind it together." [47:17] (28 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

7. "This is called what we call journaling or 959, that you would take 10 minutes a day, nine minutes, 59 seconds a day to say, God, I want you to speak into my life. In fact, we value this so much that we put a lot of effort into it. And when you leave, you're going to get a little card. That on one side, it's going to have a little QR code that brings you to our website to say, this is how you learn how to journal." [48:41] (24 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

8. "It says, bind them upon your what? It's that one, that word. All right. It is a slightly different translation because I'm using my dad's older Bible. Bind them always on your, there we go. Nailed it. Bind them on your heart. This is a relational thing. It doesn't say bind them up in your mind that you would know everything. Right? The Bible wanted to be just knowledge-based. Then it'd say, bind them on your mind." [50:06] (29 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

9. "When you walk, these words will guide you. And when you sleep, the Holy Spirit will watch over you. And when you awake, the Bible will speak to you. Right? If we've got a path to get on, if we've got steps to go, if you want to get to wherever it is you're going, there's a path that you've got to walk, right? You don't just accidentally wake up and have a successful life. You don't accidentally wake up and just, oh, you're married and you've got a great and healthy marriage." 10. "For these commands, are a lamp. This teaching is a light and the corrections of discipline are the way to life. I love that. And so, so just, just so we're clear when it says a lamp and a light, like I've said this a few times, this is written 3000 years ago. This is not the flashlight that you buy on Amazon that is now brighter than high beams on a car that like I flick it on and I can see two miles down the road."
