Idols are anything in our lives that promise us a sense of security apart from God, okay? I want you to take that statement real quick and I want you to just think about it. I want you to just focus in on what that has to say to you personally today. Idols are anything that promise us in life security apart from God, okay? Security apart from Him. [00:02:58] (31 seconds)  #IdolsPromiseFalseSecurity

For some of us, that is such a treasured possession that it's become almost like a God-like thing in our life. It's not something we give to God daily, but we are so much a part of that in our life that sometimes it takes hold of us and it rules us. And it's the one thing that if our family is disrupted and that life gets turned upside down, then our world is turned upside down. [00:04:38] (27 seconds)  #PossessionsThatRuleUs

God wasn't asking that of me. He wasn't asking me to walk away from the things that were so important into what he really called me to. But I wasn't really chasing after him. I was chasing after my own pride. I was chasing after those things. And I have learned so much from that over the years. [00:12:24] (21 seconds)  #ChasingPrideNotGod

What is Satan trying to bait you with? What is something that's so simple in your life that's a good thing that he's just trying to drag you in and he's trying to control, right? He wants you to feel a false sense of security in that thing because if you hold on to it tight enough, who are you not holding on to? You're not holding on to God. You're not giving him your devotion. You're not giving him your heart. You're not focused on those things. [00:14:50] (29 seconds)  #FalseSecurityDistracts

In all reality, at the end of the day, no matter what it is that you're trying to grab and to reach for, that you find comfort in. It might be even just other things that are good for us. Food. All kinds of stuff that we end up worshiping, that we can hold on to, that take control of our life. [00:16:26] (20 seconds)  #GoodThingsTurnedIdols

When we look at what could be an idol in our life, what they can't offer us because it's nothing, we see on the reverse side of that, that we serve, we love a God who can give us everything and wants to do the direct opposite of these false things. [00:17:06] (21 seconds)  #GodGivesTrueEverything

Every man, woman, and child on this earth, we should be pursuing with the love of Christ. We should be going after them the way Paul did. We should be going and sharing, and is there going to be someone that's going to scream foul on the other side? Yep, Satan's going to be stirring the waters. He's going to be wanting people to speak against us and what God's trying to do in our hearts and what he's trying to do in our community in presenting the truth. No deception, no lies, but fulfillment for what he's wired you for. [00:17:39] (36 seconds)  #PursueWithChristLove

One of the things that we put on is the breastplate of righteousness, right? Being understood it's something that Christ gives us. We don't become righteous in and of ourselves. It's granted to us. It's given to us, and when we put that on in our hearts and our minds, align with who Christ is, it becomes a shield. It becomes a protection. It becomes something that we can stand in and hold on to that brings us that security that we need. [00:23:43] (29 seconds)  #BreastplateOfRighteousness
