The church is not a human invention but a divine creation, bonded together by the Spirit of God. This unity is not based on shared opinions or preferences but on a shared calling, a shared character, and a shared peace that only He can provide. It is a supernatural fellowship, sealed and secured by His presence, designed to reflect His nature to the world. This foundational truth reminds us that our togetherness is a work of grace, not of our own making. [43:05]
Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, and making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3 CSB)
Reflection: As you consider your relationships within the church body, where do you sense a need for more humility, gentleness, or patience? What is one practical step you can take this week to actively "bear with" or "make every effort" to strengthen the unity you have with other believers?
God does not dispense His Spirit in meager portions based on our daily needs. Every follower of Christ has access to the complete, overwhelming, and infinite power of the Holy Spirit at all times. This is not a resource that is ever scarce or rationed; it is a constant, overflowing presence that empowers us for life and godliness. This truth liberates us from striving in our own strength and invites us to rely fully on His. [41:40]
For the one whom God sent speaks God’s words, since he gives the Spirit without measure. (John 3:34 CSB)
Reflection: In what area of your life are you currently operating as if you only have a "quarter cup" of the Spirit's power, rather than trusting in His limitless presence? How might your approach to that situation change if you truly believed you had all of Him, all the time?
The Holy Spirit distributes gifts to every believer, not for personal prestige or competition, but for the common good. These gifts are given to equip the church for ministry and to build it up in maturity and security. When we exercise our gifts with a heart of service, we contribute to a strong, healthy body that can stand firm against deception and false teaching, reflecting Christ’s fullness together. [56:34]
Now grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift... And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:7, 11-12 CSB)
Reflection: How are you currently using your God-given gifts to serve and build up others in the church? Is there a specific person or ministry that could be encouraged by you stepping into a more active role of service this week?
The Christian life involves a conscious turning away from our former ways of thinking and living. This is a process of transformation where we, by the Spirit's power, actively discard patterns of darkness, impurity, and deceitful desires. We then embrace the new identity we have in Christ, which is characterized by righteousness, purity, and truth, allowing our minds to be continually renewed. [01:07:09]
You took off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. (Ephesians 4:22-24 CSB)
Reflection: What specific "old self" behavior or pattern of dark thinking are you most aware of needing to "put off" right now? What would it look like to actively "put on" a Christ-like response in its place this week?
Transformation is a journey we do not walk alone. The fellowship of the church is designed by God to be a community where we help one another live out this new life. We are called to speak truth in love, to reject bitterness, and to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving to one another. This mutual support reflects the grace we have received from Christ and guards the unity the Spirit has created. [01:08:25]
Let all bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander be removed from you, along with all malice. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ. (Ephesians 4:31-32 CSB)
Reflection: Is there a relationship within your sphere of influence—at home, church, or work—where you have allowed bitterness or anger to create distance? How can you take a step toward kindness, compassion, or forgiveness, reflecting the forgiveness you have received from God?
Ephesians chapter four frames the church as a Spirit-welded body called to a distinct way of life. The Holy Spirit welds believers together through a shared calling, by shaping a holy character, and by securing peace that resists divisive spirits. Calling demands a worthy walk—an everyday living that demonstrates the infinite value of Christ’s salvation. Character issues such as humility, gentleness, patience, and enduring love form the practical habits that hold community together and distinguish the church from the surrounding culture.
The Spirit gives varied gifts to strengthen and equip the body for ministry: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers serve to equip the saints for work that builds up the church into maturity. Those gifts protect the fellowship from false teachings and cultural seductions, train discernment, and cultivate unity in faith and knowledge of Christ. The goal lies in growth into full stature in Christ so the community stops being tossed by every new idea and instead speaks truth in love.
Transformation receives a concrete, pastoral image: believers must put off the old self and put on the new, renewed in mind and shaped into righteousness and purity. The Spirit energizes the daily work of taking off lying, anger, theft, slander, and malice, replacing them with honesty, generosity, grace-filled speech, kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. The change comes through a patient, disciplined process—not instant perfection—but steady rehabilitation under the Spirit’s guidance, likened to a faithful therapist restoring a person to full strength.
Practical ministry flows from these truths: prioritize the Word over gimmicks, invest in raising leaders and sending out workers, and guard the fellowship by centering life around Spirit-formed character and sound teaching. The community exists to mature together, protect one another from deception, and to send out renewed people who carry the gospel beyond the local church.
It's not meant so that like, the Lord doesn't give us gifting so that we can get in some competition with one another, or we can get filled with pride and think that I'm more important than this person, or or you know what? My voice matters more than so and so. No. No. No. No. The reason why God does that is so the church can be stronger together. The church can be stronger together.

Now now check this. So what happens in this moment is that, man, when when when those roles begin doing their job, then the church doesn't get swayed or persuaded by cultural ideologies that run against God's good holy standard for living. The church doesn't become corrupt with false spirits. They tend to manipulate and try to control people. No. The church, no matter what the rest of the world is doing, stands strong. The church stands strong because in this fellowship, the Holy Spirit has welded us together, and he's matured us, and he secured us.

The counselor, the holy spirit, whom the father has sent to us, holds us together in peace and gives us strength to endure with one another out of his great love. And he secures us in that peace. The church is not a place that's meant to be hostile, but we are welded together by this peace of the Holy Spirit.

We walk worthy of this calling by God that we have received, and we do so with humility, with gentleness, with patience bearing with one another in love. And so what is the Holy Spirit doing? The Holy Spirit is making a people, transforming their lives, and in the body of Christ, we don't function like the rest of the world. This is not arrogance when I tell you that the church is meant to be better than the rest of the world. We are meant to be better than secular society in how we live, in the transformation that the Holy Spirit is doing, and how we function as a church.

He is clear again. It's not backbiting anger. He says, malice, foul speech. It's it's it's not letting anger grip you and and the devil steal from you the unity and the peace of the Holy Spirit. No. It looks like somebody who is enduring with one another in love, who's put away the bitterness and the anger and the wrath and the shouting and the slander, and what they've replaced it with is the holy spirit has made them kind and compassionate and forgiving because what they know is how much they've been forgiven by Christ.

That's that's not it. Because what we are focused on is raising up the next generations of of pastors and leaders. We are focused on building disciples who will see their home as the mission field and begin discipling their families in the word of god so they could be transformed and bonded together by the peace of the holy spirit. I can go on and on and on. But but what we are focused on is the ministry of this word and how it takes shape and shapes all of our lives. We're not focused on gimmicks and tricks, and we're not going to be.

But that sending capacity, where we measure out how many we're sending out to the mission field, that's something that we should start celebrating again. Thank goodness for David for hanging our mission banners back up. We gotta order a Guatemala banner sometime soon. I just gotta figure out the dimensions. But we we we wanna celebrate that because what God is doing is we are celebrating the fact that he's given good gifts to all of us for his good works, and we're seeing those good works do great things for the Lord Jesus.

What what has been given to us in the body of Christ are ministers of the word, apostles that are messengers of the word, prophets who speak God's word at a particular point in time, evangelists who help carry the gospel, pastors and teachers who diligently not just preach the word, but shepherd people in the word.
