“``This is the power of what Jesus did for you on the cross. There is we sang about it this morning. There is no guilt. There is no shame. But many of you live with the shame of things that you've done in the past, of failures in your past. Because the evil one, the Bible says, Jesus said, he wants to convict us. He wants to judge us. He wants us because what happens when you feel guilty? You pull away from God. That's what Adam and Eve did in their garden. We have to understand that Jesus paid that price for me. It was something I could never pay back to God. My debt was too great. Your debt was too great. But Jesus on the cross paid that price for you, for me, so God remembers it no more.”

“Here's what he's saying. The old covenant the new covenant is greater than the old covenant. Jesus fulfilled what we could never do, ushered in a new covenant in which he is the mediator. He is the mediator, not Moses. Jesus himself is the mediator. And by being the mediator, he is going to accomplish everything that God has desired in his relationship with us. Friends, my prayer this morning is that you, as we share the three promises that were in Jeremiah thirty one, six hundred years before Jesus was ever born, God already had a plan. His he had this plan before he created anything. He knew what was gonna happen. But in this covenant, god not only initiates the covenant, but he himself fulfills it so it's not dependent on us.”

“We don't live under the law anymore. We don't live under the old covenant anymore. Because in order to be in relationship with God, we had to fully obey his commands, and we fail. Now you might think, well, I've never murdered. I've never committed adultery. I've never done those things. What do you mean I fail? Well, the Bible says that we are to love God as the first love of our lives. We've probably all failed at that already today. If we've ever had hatred in our hearts towards someone, we have committed murder against them. If we have ever lusted after someone, we're already guilty of adultery. This is what the Bible teaches. This is what Jesus said. And so we cannot stand under the weight of the laws of God because we are incapable of fulfilling them and thus fulfilling our obligation under the covenant of Moses, the old covenant.”

“Fully human. He is the priest. He is the sacrifice as we're gonna see. He's all of it. So God did everything in this covenant. It's not dependent on me. It's dependent on God, and God never fails to do what he has what he has promised to do. So we see that the new covenant is internal, not external, and which is amazing. Now I can connect with God because the spirit of God is in me. Now I can hear God when I read his word. When I pray, I'm connecting with him because he's in me. He's not outside of me, but he's in me through the holy spirit. Here's a second incredible promise, and that is that the covenant provides complete forgiveness. Listen to what we read here. This is incredible.”
