#JesusHasItAll
“In the great commission, Jesus says that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. He wants it all. That means that everything is on the table. Jesus will not accept second place. He will not concede even an inch. If Satan desires it, Jesus has the deed for it. If the enemy contends for it, Jesus lays claim to it. Every people, every culture, every action, every home, every heart belongs to Jesus Christ. He made us, and he craves us. And he's promised to be with us until the very end of time.”

#ForwardOverComfort
“Listen, church. This is so often true. The things in life that are most critical are often the least comfortable. That's a key lesson from Matthew 28 as well. Today's text is all about getting out there. It's about taking on a high stakes assignment. Because even though it is harder, pressing forward is better than staying put.”

#GoMakeDisciples
“But what's interesting is if you actually look at how this appears in the Greek text, the first commandment of the great commission is not The first instruction is actually make disciples. Why would that be? Well, it's because in Jesus' mind, going was already assumed. The best way to kinda word for word translate, Matthew 28, is to say, in your going, make disciples. Having already gone out, teach them to obey me and baptize them.”

#GreenLightGo
“Ellenbrook, we cannot allow this to happen to our church. We have a commission from Jesus. We have to go. The light is green, and I want us to show that and to share that today. So in a moment, after you receive the communion elements and return to your seat, we want you to take and to bend this green glow stick so it starts to shine. Then we want you to put it around your neck or around your wrist as a symbol of our sentness from the savior because it's time for all of us to see the green light and to go.”

#SentThroughScripture
“And the Bible, kinda beginning to end, is a story of God sending his people. He said to Noah, go and get on that ark. He said to Moses, go and face Pharaoh. He changed Ruth so that she, in her heart, desired to go and be where Naomi was. And as we heard in the words of Matthew 28, which called the great commission, Jesus tells his disciples, his followers, his church, all of us that we need to go to. We need to go into all the world, Jesus says, and make disciples. Baptize them and teach them to obey me.”

#ForgottenPurpose
“But over time, purpose of the SS United States shifted. Its origins as a battle transport passed out of memory as it became a luxury cruise liner outfitted with all of the creaturely comforts that its riders demanded. Rather than go and serve, the SSUS became a place for recreation and personal pleasure. It changed hands many times and soon stopped traveling altogether. It cost millions in docking fees and maintenance. Rust ate away at its once proud frame, and with no great cause left for which to sail, the SS United States saw its amenities ripped out and auctioned off. And now in a manner of weeks, it is set to be submerged and buried in the bottom of the sea, having never fulfilled the mission for which it was first made.”

#WhenTheLightIsGreen
“Hey, have you ever been to a stoplight and then watched as the cars in front of you did nothing even though the light turned green? is that, Elmbrook? Because they're on their phone. Right? They're ordering their next matcha or they're goofing on calci or something like that. And they're not looking up, and then they realize that it's turned green just in time for them and the car immediately behind them to get through. And you arrive at the intersection just as the light turns from yellow to red. Just like you're faced at that point in history as well. Right? When the light's green, you gotta go. And I'm so thankful that Elmbrick recognizes this call, this invitation, this commission, and we're going. When the light says green, we're moving.”

#UnitedInMission
“Church, I want you to know how deeply many of us feel the same way about our three campuses. We believe that it is impossible for Lake Country to succeed if Espanol fails, that it is not possible for Brookfield to succeed if lake country fails. No es posible que Espanyol tenga éxito si Brookfield fracasa. We are one in Christ Jesus. Our hearts are beating together now more than ever. The light is green for all of us to God's grace and glory.”
