I love the Lord because he has heard my voice and my supplications because he has inclined his ear to me therefore I will call upon him as long as I live now notice the opening line of Psalm 116 I love the Lord because he has heard my voice the psalmist began his song with the most simple expression of grateful love. [00:04:31]

The Pains of death surrounded me and the pangs of Shel laid hold of me I found trouble and sorrow then I called upon the name of the Lord oh Lord I implore you deliver my soul you see in the painful grip of death that's communicated by the words in verse three the Pains of death surrounded me. [00:07:17]

Gracious is the Lord and righteous yes our God is merciful the Lord preserves the simple I was brought low and he saved me return to your rest oh my soul for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you now notice he says here in verse 5 gracious is the Lord and righteous you see in light of his Deliverance. [00:12:21]

For you have delivered my soul from Death my eyes from tears and my feet from falling I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living I believed therefore I spoke I am greatly Afflicted I said in my haste all men are liars now notice this in verse 8 that's a glorious testimony you've delivered my soul from Death. [00:18:54]

What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits toward me I will take up the cup of Salvation and call upon the name of the Lord I will pay my Val bows to the Lord now in the presence of all his people now le let's consider this just in terms of the psalmist the author of Psalm 116. [00:25:24]

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints oh Lord truly I am your servant I am your servant the son of your maid servant you have loosed my bond I will offer to you the sacrifice of Thanksgiving and I will call upon the name of the Lord now this Psalm describes how the psalmist was delivered from Death. [00:34:32]

Death before our time is a crime that we pray to be delivered from but when it is God's time to take a believer home precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints when that day comes god holds the death of every one of his people as a very precious thing. [00:36:07]

Gratitude for blessings received drove the psalmist to receive more from God brothers and sisters this is a very important principle before we can do anything for God we always begin by gratefully receiving now look I believe that we should do things for the Lord I believe that we should be very busy in giving honor and praise. [00:28:43]

I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all his people the singer publicly declared perhaps in a sacrificial ritual of gratitude at the Temple's altar maybe he publicly declared God's greatness and faithfulness he would complete what he had determined to do before God hereby Lord with what I do right now. [00:32:18]

The psalmist understood that problems are common to all men but the benefits of God's blessing often only belong to those who trust God so he says what return can I make to God for all his benefits towards me notice the benefits are in the plural all his benefits it's not just a few but it's all of them. [00:27:44]

I will offer to you the sacrifice of Thanksgiving now once again before we saw it in verse 14 we find ourselves at the altar of sacrifice with the singer he was happy and he was Duty bound to Proclaim his gratitude to God and to call upon him alone and again we understand how this was true in regard to the psalmist. [00:41:05]

The psalmist would Proclaim his praise and his gratitude towards God and he would do it now in the presence of all his people you see the um Agony he went through he had to go through it all alone everybody had forsaken him but the victory that he enjoys he proclaims it to everybody. [00:42:05]
