68s
“``So listen carefully. Listen, if you're taking notes, this is the first fill in. Grace is not the absence of standards. Grace is not the absence of standards. We hear it at Discovery Church, we're Pentecostals. We're Pentecostals. we believe in holiness. We believe in righteousness. We do not, however, lower the standards of God's truth in our homes. So grace is not the absence of standards. Well, then what is it? It's the presence of unconditional support when we fell short of those standards. Say that again. It's the press it's the presence of unconditional support when we fall short of those standards.”
49s
“``That means when your teenager messes up, when your child slips up, grace doesn't say, oh, that's okay. It doesn't matter. Truth says, that was wrong. It hurts and there are consequences. But grace steps in, wraps its arms around those shaking shoulders and says, but I'm not going anywhere. We're gonna walk through this fire together. We're gonna fix this. We're gonna get to the other side by the power of God. That's what a safe space is.”
51s
“``So let's bring that down where the rubber meets the road. Here it is. To your next point, Jesus must be the main resident in your house. And if Jesus is the main resident in your house, ask yourself, how does this really change the conversation at my dinner table? If the Lord Jesus is sitting there with you, picture it, he's sitting there with you, can you still engage in backbiting? Can you still engage in gossip about the leadership of the church or tearing down of your neighbors, spewing negativity? If he is the listener of every word, does the language of your household reflect his holiness?”
53s
“``When your earthly foundations crumble, the heavenly father steps in. He isn't distant. He's not angry. He's not an angry judge just waiting there for you to mess up. He's the perfect father, full of compassion, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love. And if you're if you're a single mother here today, if you're a grieving father who wishes he could undo the past, or if you're a struggling couple hanging on by a thread, I want you to know that our God the master architect, and he specializes in renovations.”
