45s
“We get invited to go, and nothing's gonna stop us because it's this Jesus who tells us this story, who breaks and changes all the expectations, the transactions of this world through his life, his ministry, his death, his resurrection so that you and I don't have to live by expectations. We don't have to live by transactions. We get to live by transformation. The transformation of grace that frames us so God can keep surprising just like that last hour crew.”
66s
“The surprise that has come from someone who did something for them beyond belief. To be framed by grace is for you and me to live a different way of life on God's kingdom come here to earth. It is to live in God's way of life, God's way of life of love and forgiveness, and it daily changes us. Remember, Martin Luther tells us we're always gonna be simultaneously saint and sinner, so we need to wake up every morning being asked to be daily changed where we can be changed from lost to found, from despaired or maybe even a little bit just grumpy to hope filled, where we can be changed from daily calculating and expecting to just saying, thank you. Thank you for the invitation to just go.”
37s
“You and I being called first, first Lutheran, we get it. We get it. We know how easily it is to be part of that first hour crew. We cannot give them any bad deal because we would have done it ourselves. We know. It just doesn't add up. Those who showed up at the last hour getting the paid same as us, it's not fair. But it doesn't matter that it's fair. What matters is that it's grace.”
