36s
“Jesus spoke of Lazarus in the present tense. Our friend Lazarus sleepeth, present tense. Not our friend Lazarus has died or has fallen asleep, but our friend Lazarus sleepeth. Now how could Jesus do that? And family be encouraged by this because Jesus was over there where Lazarus was as well as standing there with his disciples. I like to see it like this, and it is correct. Jesus is on both sides of death.”
42s
“I found that Jesus never refers to a person that we refer to as died. He never refers to him like that. He refers to them as asleep. Now why would he do that? But let me read on. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleeps, he does well. Then Jesus spake of his death, but they thought that he'd spoken of taking of rest and sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead, and I'm glad for your sakes that I was not there to the intent that ye may believe. Nevertheless, let us go unto him.”
