#GiveYourBestToJesus
“``And as I think of this comparison, there's a different comparison to make as well. For see the woman she poured out this perfume, and in the same chapter, we have another pouring. What would be our other pouring that is given? That if we compare her then in pouring to Jesus. Then in verse 24, it says, this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many, he said to them. That Jesus poured out his best for us. He gives his all, a sacrifice beyond any price. poured and gave her best to Jesus. He poured out his blood, sacrifice atoning for our sins. Jesus is worthy of our best because it is simply a return recognizing what he has done for us. And so if he has given us his best, the ultimate sacrifice, the least we can do is give back to him.”

#DoWhatYouCan
“And all of them, they would be anointed on the head dedicated. And so, although she didn't intend this to be what she was doing, in effect, she ended up being the one to physically anoint him before his death, before he would go and fulfill what the anointed one was to do, die on our behalf. She intended one thing, but Jesus gave it a fuller meaning, amounting her to the role of one who anoint him. And I think this is significant because she didn't intend it. See, in that same verse, Jesus said, she did what she could. She did all she can, where her heart was leading her, where her pure intentions were. See, I think God doesn't expect us to do more than we can, but he does expect us to do what we can. And he takes our best and he makes it better. He can give it a fuller, newer, more expansive meaning beyond what we can imagine.”

#PrepareForHisReturn
“And when I think about our scene of today, this woman who came towards Jesus and offers what she has, this scent was life giving and beautiful to Jesus, but challenging to the others. For us, as we go about our lives, what will we bring? What will we bring and offer to Jesus? Because our guest of honor is coming. He is coming. Will we prepare for his return? Will we get our house in order? Will we get our souls in order that the guest of honor is coming? Will we offer our sacrifices before him?”

#IntentionsMatter
“as I look at this, there is such a stark comparison here in our passage today between the woman on one hand and Judas on the other. That the woman, pure intentions, gave Jesus valuable perfume, prepared Jesus for burial and will be esteemed in memory. And on the other hand, have Judas. Mal intentions, woeful, gave up Jesus for little value, betrayed Jesus to die. It would have been better for him, better not to have been born. Such a stark contrast for us today. And as I compare these two, we have to be honest with ourselves. Where are our intentions as we come before God? Are we coming before him pure or woefully?”
