“God used 40 different authors over about a 1600year period to record for us what he wants us to have. It's not everything about God, but it's what we need to understand him and to live a life with him. And so when you step back as a skeptic and you think, you know, if the God who created this universe wanted to talk to us, what better way than to write it down in the book and hand it to us. And so he's done that.”
“We have before us this giant canyon so wide there's no way we can jump across it. We can't pole vault across it. There's nothing we can do to get across that gap. And on the other side is God himself and his holiness and eternal life. And so if you have that mental picture, let's talk for a moment about what the good news is.”
“God created man in his image. We are not like any other creatures. We are not animals. Okay? God created mankind with a physical body, mental capacity and he placed within us a soul, a spiritual capacity that no other animal has. And in that soul, he has put us in a place that he wants us to use our free will to make a choice to love and follow him or to go our own way.”
“And on that day, Adam died spiritually. And that relationship that he had had with the Lord was broken. And so the daytoday walking, the God talking to him so frequently and working together in the garden to do something that was all broken. And and now Adam lives hundreds of years longer before one day, Genesis chapter 5, he died.”
“We come to the fact that God created this world and when sin came, death came. And so we find ourselves in desperate need of someone to save us. We needed a savior. So God's plan of salvation was put into motion. Now God just didn't think of that the day that Adam the day that Adam sinned was not the day that God thought of the plan of salvation. He knew it from eternity past what the plan of salvation would be.”
“Here's Jesus. He's born of a virgin. He lives a life with no sin. He dies on a cross. Pay our penalty. He's buried and three days later he rises again. And today he sits at the right hand of the father interceding for us. That is the gospel.”
“God loves us not just as a group of people, not just as mankind, but individually today. God loves you and he loves me. And what I want to share with you changes your life. A lot of times when we talk about the gospel, we think about the gospel as though it's something we do for evangelism.”
“The gospel is not just to get you saved, get you on the other side, earn eternal life. The gospel is to live every single day like Adam lived with God before sin came. The gospel can do that so that your life today in this sin cursed world, this fallen world that we all live in, your life can be just like Adam's day by day walking with God, spiritually united with the Lord.”
“When you're studying the word of God, don't just read it to run your eyes over the p the page. Take the time to open it up and see what does God have to say for me right now? Because every time you open the word, the Holy Spirit, as a believer, the Holy Spirit will draw you to himself.”
“You have a sinless son of God who comes to the cross and all of us who are lost sheep. We can come and repent of our sins. Make him the Lord of our lives accept his work on the cross. And God will look at the cross as though he's looking at me and my sins. And when he looks at me, he sees Jesus. It's the exchange.”
“If you're an unbeliever, if you've never accepted Jesus Christ, I want to invite you today to make that decision to follow him. If you have followed him, I want you to think about the value and the power of the gospel in your life each and every day because spiritually you can go back to that place where your relationship with God is complete spiritually with him.”
“We're going to be physically disconnected from God until we die, until the Lord returns. We're g our our bodies are going to be holding us back. But one day, when eternal life comes, we'll walk with the father just like Adam did at the beginning. That will be reestablished with God.”
“If you read this book and you see what God had doing, he gave him a job. I think we're going to have jobs. Work is important. Now, I hope you're not one of the people that hates work, okay? Work is hard, right? It is part of the curse. You got a sweat of your brow. Okay? But your ability to work has meaning. It means something for all of us.”
“If we choose to abide in him, we'll have everything we need for this spiritual life and this spiritual journey that we're on. So the gospel, it's for unbelievers to understand what Jesus wants you to do to enjoy eternal life. And it's for us as believers.”
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. Notice those words, no condemnation. Why is it that there's no condemnation? Because when we place our faith in Christ and the work that he did on Calvary, my sins, I was born in 1960. Every sin I've ever committed was 1930 or 35 years after Jesus was on the cross. All of my sins were future when Jesus was on the cross. Yours were, too. But he paid for them. They're all paid for. There's no condemnation because he's paid for my sins.”
