We live between the tension of life’s unpredictability and God’s unwavering grip. Though tomorrow’s details remain hidden, believers anchor in the certainty of divine sovereignty. The same hand that shaped galaxies steadies faltering hearts. It’s not about foreseeing the path but trusting the One who carved it. When shadows lengthen, faith declares: the Holder matters more than the held. [20:48]

“If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

Day 2: Faith as Faction: Declaring Victory Before the Battle

True faith speaks the end from the beginning, turning battlefields into altars of testimony. [22:50]

Like a tree planted by water, depth and fruitfulness coexist. Fake smiles dishonor suffering; grim religiosity denies resurrection. True balance dances between Gethsemane and Galilee. [55:28]

God is thanked as the healing hand, helping hand, strengthening hand, and lifting hand for Mother Phyllis McLennig and for every family member standing near her. God is trusted because no person knows what the rest of the day or week may hold, but God holds the hand, holds today, and still holds tomorrow.

The faith declaration has not changed, no matter what the situation may be. Jesus has already done everything he said he would do, and based on his victory, faith has to keep talking. Faith is not a feeling. Faith does not wait until something is felt in the body or seen in the room. Faith asks God, speaks out of its own mouth, and keeps saying what God said.

The easy-life gospel gets corrected by the balance of Scripture. God did not promise that life would be soft, painless, and always comfortable. God did promise that no good thing would be withheld, but the qualifier still stands: seek first the kingdom and his righteousness. The blessing is not measured by money in the bank, because material things do not mean anything to God in themselves. God blesses his people so others can see that there is blessing in serving him, but Christ saves a person to be a witness to the light and the gospel.

David stands as the picture of somebody who knew his God before he had a throne. David had been anointed to become king, but he was still just a shepherd boy when he faced Goliath. The people that know their God cannot have that knowledge taken away from them. The covenant-keeping God still keeps covenant, and the better covenant is built on better promises. God makes the stipulation, God makes the agreement, and because God said it, God can do everything he said.

Faithful service is shown in pressing toward God with the same seriousness that sinners show toward what they love. The gospel of balance refuses every extreme. Jubilation without the Word will blow up, because joy is not the foundation. The Word is the foundation, but the Word with no prayer can leave a person dry. Prayer, praise, preaching, songs, old foundations, and new sounds all have their place when God keeps his people in balance. The Word of God still cuts like a two-edged sword, making a person mad, sad, or glad, but never leaving the heart untouched. “Walk in the light” becomes the call, because God still has a new song while keeping the old foundation strong.
